The LIRR strike did not have to happen. Kathy Hochul had months to work with union leaders and reach a fair deal. Instead, Hochul treated the workers like they were disposable. She brought in out-of-state workers to cross picket lines during a nurses' strike. She sent the National Guard to break a corrections officers' strike. When I’m Governor, labor will finally have an ally in the Governor’s mansion.

The Long Island Rail Road is shut down, and 330,000 commuters are stranded because of Kathy Hochul’s failed leadership. Hochul controls the MTA, and she has failed workers over and over again. We have labor peace in Nassau County because we negotiate early, we negotiate hard, and we treat our workers with respect. Kathy Hochul does not know how to manage government. You’re paying for it.

How do you avoid a strike? How do you run the nation’s largest transportation system? Don’t ask Kathy Hochul. A governor’s job is to lead — to negotiate, take charge, and do the hard work. She didn’t. I will. This isn’t just politics. It’s leadership.

Our small business owners are the backbone of this state. The women and men who wake up every day and pour everything they have into building something for their families and their communities. In Nassau County, we invested in them. When I am Governor, I am bringing that same commitment to every single town in New York.

Governor Hochul’s incompetence in handling labor relation from nurses to corrections officers and now railroad workers puts the safety of everyday New Yorkers in jeopardy. Blaming the LIRR strike on President Trump is so disingenuous it is laughable. Hochul runs the MTA and she alone bears responsibility for the disruption of services.
