A very strong showing by DCP! For a party that is barely a year old, and one they branded as a Wamunyoro/Kikuyu party to garner that many votes in Kalenjin land is very telling. I’m not a tourism expert but just reasoning out with my MBA brain 😂 Morocco gets 17 million visitors a year. Kenya only about 2.4 million. A round trip from anywhere in Europe to Morocco costs around €100. To Nairobi, it’s roughly €1,000. And before you say it’s the distance, note that Paris to South Africa is 11 hrs and still costs about the same as Nairobi, which is only 8 hrs away. Beyond flights, vacationing in Kenya is just too expensive. A friend recently asked me to help her book a one-week trip to Kenya and the quote was $10,000. Then gave her the option of a Tanzanian safari company that offered $6,000 for a similar experience, including 3 days in Kenya (Naivasha and Nairobi National Park) before heading back to Kilimanjaro.

Speaking during a high-level debate on “Political Parties and the Reconfiguration of the African State: Pathways to Democratic Consolidation in the 21st Century,” at the University of Nairobi, Sen. Omar said the proposed institute would become a hub for research, policy innovation, and leadership development, bridging academia and political practice to shape Kenya’s democratic future. He further emphasised the importance of African political parties establishing think tanks and ideological schools to ground their movements in coherent ideology and evidence-based policymaking. Such institutions, he noted, would nurture future leaders capable of aligning party manifestos with real socio-economic needs. Sen. Omar also challenged university students and young leaders to move beyond online activism and engage directly in political processes to strengthen democracy.

Our October 2025 survey shows a major reshuffle in Mbeere North’s political landscape. Hon. Leonard Wamuthende leads with 40.1 %, pulling ahead of Hon. Newton Karish at 33.1 %, while Hon.Duncun Mbui lags far behind at 5.1 %. A notable 21.5 % of voters remain undecided, signaling that the race is still fluid but trending in Leonard’s favor. The much-talked-about DCP–DP partnership appears to have yielded no significant results, and Hon. Mbui’s defection to Chama Cha Kazi after being denied a DCP ticket has further eroded his base. Leonard’s rise is attributed to strong grassroots trust, consistency, and visible community engagement, placing him in pole position as Mbeere North heads toward the by-election.
