We've outsourced grief to professionals. Therapists. Funeral directors. Grief counselors. All valuable. All necessary. But somewhere along the way we forgot that ordinary people used to hold each other through it. You don't need a certification to show up for someone.

I started a podcast because I kept having conversations that needed to be recorded. Real ones. About death, grief, and showing up when everything in you wants to disappear. The Mortals Podcast — wherever you listen to podcasts. Come hang. 🎙️ stan.store/thenathanmorris

Regardless of your opinion on Operation Epic Fury or your political affiliation, we have the greatest military in the world. Its strength lies not just in power, but in the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of our troops. God bless our men and women in uniform.

What's the most important thing a parent ever taught you about loss? Could be something they said. Could be something they did. Could be something they didn't do that showed you what not to do. I'm listening. 👇

I welcome anyone with a brilliant processes/AI prompt mind to give me direction for my dad, music, funeral, consulting, content, scheduling world. “You can’t see the forest through the trees” is real af.

There's something about Owensboro that shaped how I see death. It's a city that knows how to sit with things. A city that shows up at viewings and stays too long. That's where I learned that grief is community. And community is everything.

Sometimes I listen back to "Feel Anything" and I can still feel the exact moment I wrote each line. That's how you know a song is real. Not because it's perfect. Because it's true.

Tell me about a song that got you through the hardest season of your life. Not the artist. Not the album. The specific song. I want to know. 👇

Grief anniversaries hit harder than people expect. Not just the death date.Their birthday. The holidays. The random Tuesday in March that meant something only to you. Check on people in the small dates, not just the obvious ones.

Most people think talking about death is morbid. I think avoiding it is. When you stop pretending it's not coming, you start living completely differently. That's what The Mortals is built around. People who want to live like they mean it. 🖤nathanmorrismusic.com/supporters/per…

Four boys. One dad. Some days I get it right. Most days I'm figuring it out in real time. But I show up every single day. And I've decided that showing up is the most important part. They'll remember the presence. Not the perfection.

The hardest part of releasing music isn't the launch. It's the day after. When the world keeps moving and you're sitting there wondering if it landed. Then someone sends you a message saying it did. That's the whole reason.

The version of you that makes everyone comfortable is the version of you that disappears. The version of you that makes some people uncomfortable is the one that actually changes something. Be the second one.

The loneliest moment isn't when you're alone. It's when you're in a room full of people and none of them actually see you. Being seen is a human need. Treat it like one.

@Seanfrank As a business leader, I always appreciated direct and confident outreach when someone wanted to bring an idea to me. I have approached my outreach to you in a way I would likely respond. Obviously, you are not me. How could I get 2 minutes of your time to share an idea?

We own all of Ridge. me + 5 guys. At any point, we can cash out and sell for life changing money. there is ALWAYS a market for EBITDA positive, growing brands. not having investors means the deal is clean- no preference, no board member vetos. I keep running ridge because it is fun and I like it. Build a business YOU LIKE to run. Not one you are trapped in. This is the number one reason to not raise money.

There's a version of grief that doesn't announce itself. It shows up as exhaustion. As irritability. As staring at nothing. You don't even realize you're grieving until someone names it for you. That's what music is for. 🎵 "Feel Anything" — tr.ee/rOCca3

What's one thing people say to grieving people that actually makes it worse? I'll start: "Everything happens for a reason." Drop yours. 👇 (This one matters. I want to hear from you.)

My oldest asked me if it's okay to be sad about something that happened a long time ago. I told him grief doesn't have an expiration date. He nodded like I'd just given him permission. Maybe that's all any of us need sometimes. Permission.
