The City of Frisco looks vastly different in 2026 compared to just a couple of decades ago. Texans that travel to and or live in Frisco have noticed the large influx of Indians in the region. But what has caused this chain migration of Indians choosing to call Frisco home?

Texas just lost a Republican Senate seat in a runoff, in a district President Trump won by 17 points in 2024. Former state senator Kelly Hancock abandoned Senate District 9 to chase the Comptroller job, choosing personal ambition over the party and the state.

On December 29th, 1845, the Republic of Texas was annexed into the United States and admitted to the Union as its 28th state. The Republic of Texas declared independence from the Republic of Mexico on March 2, 1836. It applied for annexation to the United States the same year, but was rejected by the United States Secretary of State. In 1843, U.S. President John Tyler, then unaligned with any political party, decided independently to pursue the annexation of Texas in a bid to gain a base of support for another four years in office. Through secret negotiations with the Houston administration, Tyler secured a treaty of annexation in April 1844. When the documents were submitted to the U.S. Senate for ratification, the details of the terms of annexation became public and the question of acquiring Texas took center stage in the presidential election of 1844. On March 1, 1845, President Tyler signed the annexation bill, and on March 3 (his last full day in office), he forwarded the House version to Texas, offering immediate annexation. Texas ratified the agreement with popular approval from Texians. The bill was signed by President Polk on December 29, 1845, accepting Texas as the 28th state of the Union. Texas formally joined the union on February 19, 1846, prompting the Mexican–American War in April of that year.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has sparked debate after reports surfaced that it is offering up to $3,000 to some undocumented immigrants who agree to leave the country on their own. The idea is to encourage “self-deportation” rather than relying entirely on arrests, detention, and forced removals. DHS officials say the program is meant to be a more practical and humane option, while also saving taxpayer money. According to DHS, the money would help cover travel costs and provide a small amount of financial support to help people restart their lives once they return to their home countries. Similar voluntary departure programs have existed for years, often run with help from nonprofit organizations. The department argues that encouraging people to leave voluntarily can ease pressure on immigration courts and detention centers, allowing enforcement agencies to focus on more serious cases involving criminals or security threats. A South Oak Cliff High School football player was taken into custody after authorities say he shot a teammate in the neck only hours after the team captured a state championship victory. The incident allegedly occurred following the celebratory win, turning what should have been a moment of triumph into a serious criminal investigation involving members of the same team. Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Xavier Mayfield, who has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to reports, the shooting happened while Mayfield and several teammates were gathered in a bedroom after the game, where a rifle was allegedly mishandled. Investigators say the discharge of the weapon struck another player, prompting an emergency response. The injured teammate was rushed to the hospital for treatment. As of the latest reports, officials have not released details about the victim’s current condition. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and no additional information has been made public about potential contributing factors. The incident came at the peak of a historic run for South Oak Cliff football. The Golden Bears had just appeared in the state championship game for the fifth straight season, an accomplishment achieved by only six programs in UIL history. That streak began with a breakthrough title in 2021, when South Oak Cliff became the first Dallas ISD school to win a football state championship in 63 years, making the aftermath of this latest victory particularly jarring for the school and its community.A South Oak Cliff High School football player was taken into custody after authorities say he shot a teammate only hours after the team captured a state championship victory. In recent weeks, the state of Texas has moved to dramatically expand the presence of Turning Point USA in public high schools — a shift that many see as reshaping youth civic engagement in the state. At a press conference on December 8, 2025 Greg Abbot, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and TPUSA leadership announced a partnership to install TPUSA’s high-school affiliate—Club America — on every public high school campus in Texas. According to the announcement, Texas already has more than 500 high school chapters of Club America. The plan includes a strong warning: any school that “stands in the way” of establishing a Club America chapter should be reported to the Texas Education Agency (TEA), with “meaningful disciplinary action” threatened for those that block it.
