Honoured to join yesterday’s roundtable hosted by @EPSIIndia where leaders from academia, research institutions, and policy bodies came together to discuss the future of India’s research ecosystem and the growing importance of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) framework in the age of AI.
I had the opportunity to present what the DPDP Act means for institutions, and how they should start preparing for the shift ahead.
Today, institutions are custodians of massive amounts of student, parent, faculty, research, and behavioural data. With AI becoming deeply integrated into the education journey, data governance can no longer remain only an IT or compliance discussion. It is now becoming a leadership, trust, and institutional readiness agenda.
Every process, every workflow, and every structure will need to be re-looked at and prepared accordingly.
Institutions that proactively prepare for DPDP will not just stay compliant — they will build stronger trust, stronger digital foundations, and better long-term student experiences.
India’s education ecosystem is entering a defining decade where AI, digital infrastructure, and data responsibility will evolve together. Awareness and preparation today will define institutional resilience tomorrow.
