Wetlands are so important for a variety of reasons, including wildlife habitat. It's one of the reasons I'm proud to be @SaveTheBayRI Riverkeeper, using my wetland science background to advocate for these unique resources.
Convention on Wetlands@RamsarConv

🦜 Biodiversity shapes the natural system and plays a vital role in maintaining the health of our planet’s ecosystems. When there is a high level of biodiversity, it means that many different species of plants and animals are present and interacting with each other.

Destroy, don’t dump! If you bought a moss ball for your aquarium destroy them by: Freeze for at least 24 hours. Boil for at least 1 full minute. Submerge the moss ball in chlorine bleach or undiluted white vinegar for 20 minutes. Seal and throw in the trash. @SaveTheBayRI

This is one of the reasons that @RhodeIslandDEM needs to specifically call out ORV use in wetlands as an alteration. Tires destabilize stream banks, compact soil, create erosion, and lead to water quality and habitat destruction. ecori.org/smart-growth/2…
