Foreign policy played only a minor role in the campaign, but it will be interesting to see how Alsobrooks settles into the Senate, which assignments she gets & which stances she brings. Maryland Senate seats are pretty safe, so she could be around a while.

Alsobrooks will of course not take over his assignments, but could bring a new perspective. Cardin & Maryland's other Senator, Chris van Hollen, sometimes did not agree. While Cardin presided over the House when Netanyahu addressed Congress this summer--van Hollen did not attend.

The 9th Cohesion Report is out! In short, while progress has been made, the challenge of economic disparities remain. 28% of Europeans live in a region with GDP per capita below 75% of the EU average. There's work to be done & the #EU needs a strong cohesion policy to do it.

Shocking! In awe how the coast guard & fire department responded so fast. As a Marylander, I was also surprised to see in this reporting that Baltimore's port has rebounded & handled a record amount of cargo last year. Great for the city, but has meant more & bigger ships.
