𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 New Delhi, 01 May 2026 𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐓 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝟗 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐫-𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐥𝐲 NCERT has brought out a new set of Grade 9 textbooks based on the National Education Policy 2020. It has already released digital versions of new Grade 9 textbooks for free access on its website a fortnight ago. These books are being printed on a war-footing manner and being distributed across the country. Due to very large number of textbooks required, there is some temporary gap in the supply and demand. NCERT is closely monitoring the situation and working to close this gap. The supply of these textbooks is being normalized. To facilitate easy access for students and parents, NCERT textbooks are being made available through multiple channels. These include an extensive nationwide vendor network and NCERT’s sales counters at all its regional centres. In addition, the NCERT’s sales counter at its headquarters at New Delhi, is also being kept open on weekends to facilitate students and parents. Further, all available textbooks, including those for Grade 9, are accessible online through the official NCERT web portal (ncertbooks.ncert.gov.in) as well as on major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon. The freely downloadable digital versions of NCERT textbooks are available on the NCERT’s official website: ncert.nic.in, on DIKSHA: diksha.gov.in and ePathshala: epathshala.nic.in In addition, NCERT is directly supplying textbooks to schools and institutions that are approaching NCERT for their bulk requirements. It is pertinent to note that the transition to a new curriculum and textbooks is a significant nationwide academic reform. Temporary supply constraints may arise during this initial phase; however, robust mechanisms have been put in place to quickly bridge any gaps in availability. All textbooks for Grade 9 have been published and released, except the Social Science textbook, which is in the final stages of development and will be made available shortly. NCERT remains fully committed to ensuring that every student has timely and affordable access to quality textbooks, and all efforts are being made to streamline supply and distribution at the earliest. Empowering Mathematics Educators for the Future The Department of Curriculum Studies and Development (DCS&D), NCERT, in collaboration with the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), successfully conducted a four-day Face-to-Face Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for Master Trainers on the New Mathematics Textbooks aligned with NEP 2020 and NCF SE 2023. Date: 20-23 April 2026 Venue: FDRC-AWES, Delhi Cantonment The programme was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Maj. Gen. P. R. Murali, VSM (Retd.), with the presence of Col. Pradeep Kumar (Retd.) and Ms. Rajani Thakur, along with NCERT faculty members. A total of 51 TGT Mathematics teachers, identified as Key Resource Persons from Army Public Schools across the country, participated in this programme aimed at strengthening their understanding of the content and pedagogy of the new textbooks. Key sessions by NCERT faculty focused on: - Conceptual structure and mathematical rigour of the textbooks - Rationale behind chapter development - NCF SE 2023 framework - Integration of technology and AI in Mathematics education The programme was coordinated by Prof. Vijayan K and Dr. Surendra Yadav, ensuring alignment with the vision of NEP 2020 and NCF SE 2023. Strengthening Social Science Education through Capacity Building The Department of Curriculum Studies and Development (DCS&D), NCERT, in collaboration with the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), successfully conducted a four-day Capacity Building Programme for “Key Resource Persons (KRPs) on New Social Science Textbooks at the Middle Stage” from 13–16 April 2026 at FDRC-AWES, Shankar Vihar, Delhi Cantt. A total of 56 Trained Graduate Teachers in Social Sciences, drawn from across the country, participated as Key Resource Persons. The programme aimed to build their capacity on the new Social Science textbooks developed in line with NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023, while providing insights into textbook structure, pedagogical perspectives, and effective classroom approaches. The inaugural session was chaired by Maj. Gen. P. R. Murali, VSM (Retd.), Managing Director, FDRC-AWES, and graced by Dr. Col. Pradeep Kumar (Retd.), Director Coordination/Scholarship (Dir Coord/S), and Ms. Rajani Thakur, Senior Faculty. Prof. Gouri Srivastava, Dean (Academic), NCERT, was also present on the occasion. More than 15 NCERT Resource Persons from the Department of Education in Social Sciences, DCS&D, and the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) conducted engaging sessions. A key session on the implementation of NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023 was led by Prof. Ranjana Arora, Head, DCS&D. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sukhvinder and Dr. Sandhya Gupta from DCS&D, NCERT. Parents, guardians and community stakeholders are encouraged to actively participate in School Management Committees (SMCs) and contribute to strengthening school education. SMCs serve as an important platform for collaborative decision-making, enabling communities to play a meaningful role in school development, effective resource utilisation and improved learning outcomes for every child. SMC Guidelines 2026 will be launched on 6th May 2026, marking a significant step towards empowering these committees with stronger governance.
