Governor of Littoral Downplays Deadly Crackdown on Peaceful Protesters in Douala, Confirms Killing of Four The Governor of Cameroon’s Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua has issued an official statement following the killing of at least four people during protests in Douala, portraying the demonstrators as violent agitators and blaming an unnamed opposition figure for inciting unrest. In a statement, Governor Diboua described the protesters as “drug-influenced” groups driven by “criminal intentions,” accusing them of attacking police and gendarmerie posts with the aim of seizing weapons. He expressed regret over the deaths and injuries, while insisting that the state’s response was aimed at preserving order, security, and national stability. However, multiple local reports and eyewitness accounts contradict this version of events, indicating that the protesters were peaceful citizens exercising their constitutional right to demonstrate against President Paul Biya’s decades-long rule. Human rights advocates and civil society leaders argue that the deadly response by security forces represents an unjustified and disproportionate use of force. Critics say the Governor’s statement reflects a long-standing pattern of government denial and repression in Cameroon, where authorities routinely label peaceful dissent as criminal activity. The official declaration made no acknowledgment of the protesters’ grievances—chiefly demands for democratic reforms and an end to Biya’s more than 40 years in power—nor did it call for accountability for the use of live ammunition against civilians. While the Governor pledged that “force will remain with the law,” observers also note that the events on October 25, 2025 in Douala underscore the shrinking space for civic expression in Cameroon and the growing risks faced by citizens who seek to peacefully voice opposition to the government. #MMINews #Elections2025 #tchiromabakary #Cameroon #FSNC

The protest yesterday was disorganized, disorderly and left in the wrong hands, such mistakes must be corrected for any protest to be efficient. The protest most be orderly, peaceful and the purpose clear. We can’t have people go on the streets to shut stones at police officers and stuff and expect to pass a message, it shouldn’t start that way. I call on every leader who has been encouraging people to take to the streets, now is the time for you to rise and lead them, lead us. What I saw yesterday was heart breaking and if we continue this way not only will people not support any idea of protest but it will empower the regime even further. It’s now or never. #AlutaContinua #FreeCameroon

Apparently according to the Regime Biya has “won” the elections and he’ll be declared winner this week🤦🏾♂️💔 It’s up to the people now! Not just those in Cameroon but worldwide.
