@forallcurious Adipose tissue is also highly enriched with adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), making it one of the most abundant and easily accessible sources of mesenchymal stem cells in the human body

@elonmusk Before we travel to other star systems, we’ll probably be growing replacement tissues, nerves, and organs from a patient’s own cells. The future is closer than it looks.

Breast reconstruction changed when surgeons stopped fighting the muscle. In traditional subpectoral reconstruction, the implant is placed under the pectoralis major muscle. But every time the muscle contracts, it can pull on the implant. This may cause “animation deformity” — visible movement or distortion of the breast during arm or chest activity. Prepectoral reconstruction takes a different approach: The implant is placed above the muscle, directly under the skin flap. The muscle stays untouched. Less animation deformity. Less muscle-related pain. More natural movement.

Plastic surgery can literally grow new skin, not with magic but with controlled tension. In tissue expansion, a balloon-like device is placed under the skin and slowly inflated over weeks. The skin doesn’t just stretch; it adapts, increases its blood supply, remodels itself, and creates extra tissue that matches the surrounding area. That’s why reconstructive surgery is not only about cutting. Sometimes, it is about teaching the body to build.

Eye-tracking studies show that when we look at a face, the area that attracts our attention most in the first 2-3 seconds is the eyes and the area around the eyes. Therefore: A minor upper blepharoplasty, Small changes in eyebrow position, Under-eye volume restoration, can often create a greater "rejuvenation effect" than rhinoplasty.

In a rhinoplasty, raising or lowering the nose by just 2–3 mm can change how people perceive you. A 2017 study showed participants faces with different nasofrontal angles and nasal projections. Faces with more balanced nasal proportions were rated as: More attractive, Younger, More confident, More successful. Interestingly, most people didn't notice the change in the nose; they simply thought the face "looked better." The goal of aesthetic rhinoplasty is not to create a "beautiful nose," but to create a nose that is harmonious with the face.
