Welcoming the Next Generation of Changemakers Today, the Water Research Commission proudly welcomed a new cohort to the Young Engineers Changemakers Programme (YECP). The YECP offers mentorship, field exposure, and leadership coaching, building a strong ecosystem that empowers young professionals to thrive and lead transformation in the water sector. Each participant represents not just a technical resource, but a potential leader and changemaker within their municipality. Throughout the programme, participants will engage with technical experts and alumni from previous cohorts, gaining insights into how the YECP has shaped their growth as visionary leaders. They will also explore locally developed innovations and technologies designed to address South Africa’s unique water challenges. Now in its sixth year, the YECP continues to prove that the most impactful investment we can make is in people in young engineers who have the vision, skills, and integrity to lead change from within. #WRC #YECP #YoungEngineers #WaterInnovation #Changemakers #LeadershipDevelopment #Municipalities #WaterSector #SouthAfrica

WRC CEO @commdr says “Biodiversity is the lifeline of our society and our ecosystems…is the bridge that links people and nature. This is why countries must begin prioritising biodiversity, not just in their development plans and strategies, but also in how they monitor and implement them. Without safeguarding biodiversity, we undermine our ability to adapt to climate change and secure a just future.” She was speaking as a panellist on a live talk show at the Stockholm World Water Week, amongst other experts. #biodiversityrights #climateadaptation #watersolutions #waterinnovations #SIWI #swww #stockholm #WRC
