What stops you #running? This chart shows how some key barriers change through life. As is often the case, running practices reflect wider life experiences. Still time to take part in my latest survey!: tinyurl.com/ycx9zeu7 #ukrunchat #runnersofinstagram #runnersoftwitter

@NeilGHotson Yes, I think women often tend to take a lot of the strain of the first couple of years - for a mix of biological and cultural reasons - and men often become more engaged in the childcare side of things as the kids get a bit older, hence the running takes a hit!

This chart show how having kids of different ages impacts on how often we run. Women runners lose much more ground when kids are v. young, and never quite make it up again. Men only seem to be impacted when they have preschool age kids. #ukrunchat #runnersoftwitter #mumswhorun

This shows the gender balance in various forms of #running, as well as the direction and size of the changes compared to last year. The general increase in female participation continues, with only athletics and obstacle course racing bucking the trend. #ukrunchat #runninguk

#running motivations through the age groups - part 2: social and mental health. Social motivations increase as we age, while mental health falls away from 30s onwards. #ukrunchat #run

Differences in % of male and female runners reporting motives as 'very important'. Men more focused on competition than women; women place more value on physical & mental wellbeing. On average ofc! #ukrunchat #parkrun #running complete the new survey: t.ly/EsqOz

What connects jogging and Donald Trump? Not a lot, actually... and that's surprisingly revealing in itself. Read more: tiny.cc/h3dh001
