1) Unpopular opinion… these buy out clauses are doing us wonders looking ahead. We’ve managed to get 245 million off 4 players the last 18 months. Yes the league form has suffered but that money coming in helps fund the improvements which were needed at the club #afcb 🍒

...by my admittedly "crystal ball" calculations, after sale of S #afcb will have ca £20-24m SCR headroom (PL Green Threshold). Let's say we want 4 players & will spend equally on each, ie £5-6m of SCR allowance. That equates to a £17.5-20m signing on £30-40k per week over 5 yrs.

Lots of noise about SCR on the #afcb threads tonight. We were out-voted at PL & it’s now the way. 4 options: 1) create more revenue - MUCH bigger ground/sponsorships/etc 2) continue to create v large player sales profits 3) regular European football 4) cut our cloth to fit

@thepeakofafcb The trick will be to manage the rolling impact as each year the allowance is reduced by the amount you have overspent. You can build it back up by not overspending. So it’s not a straightforward “We can afford it this year” decision.

So this + replacement for Semenyo could use up the SCR headroom (unless #afcb dip into the extra 30% and take a fine).

@thepeakofafcb I’m used to it. 40 years of watching us every player with top potential has used us for the next move, starting with the 1st player I loved as a kid, Colin Clarke. The alternative? Support Liverpool or Man City which a lot of people in Bmth do. They keep their best players.

@neilderek69 Read my words. Nothing to do with the stature or expected result but the connection. I felt more connected to seeing a Pearce than a Sensi, a Molesley than a Semenyo. Watching players who don’t want to be here is not fun. Losing 4-0+ will be inconsequential

@NikolasRuffet @arnoldsavoir You don’t know though. I was told by an insider that a lot more players than you think have clauses. If nobody is interested or they don’t play well enough you just don’t find out. There will be players with clauses at Brighton.

Richard Hughes also has to take a lot of responsibility. - He wanted Kerkez more than anyone because he signed him when at Bournemouth. Clearly not good enough for this level. Donkey like performances all season. - Not getting another center back. Leaving it until the last minute to get Marc Guehi and failing. Had all summer to get a center back in. Very poor. - Not replacing Luis Diaz with another left sided player, leaving a mediocre squad player in Gakpo as the 1st choice. - Selling Kelleher. Fantastic goal keeper. Mamardashvili doesn't look like he can save a thing. Poor in every department. - Completely ignoring the number one position Liverpool needed to address - defensive/holding midfielder. - Liverpool were prepared to pay over £100m to sign Caicedo and then went all out to sign Zubimendi - Clearly indicating that they needed a CDM. Yes, Gravenberch had a great season in that position last year BUT that's not his position. He will not prosper in that role season in season out. They need a specialist CDM. Richard Hughes totally ignored that. Slot will take the responsibility but a big part lies with Richard Hughes. Thoughts? #LFC
