@_SByrne The free-kick he curled in at home to Southport, when we came back from two down to win 3-2, was the moment I knew we were experiencing a special season. The ending was incredible, as we all know, and Sam was a huge part of that. I loved watching him battle for us.

Stockport County legend Sam Walker will officially hang up the boots this weekend. Walker's final season as a registered player will come to an end as his Halifax Town side (where Walker is assistant manager) travel to Woking on Saturday. A pivotal part of County's National League North title win and a huge influence in a special group under Jim Gannon, Walker made over 100 appearances for The Hatters and scored 11 goals from midfield. One of many who played a key role in getting County back into the Football League. 👏🎩

@chris_eaton_ @dannylloyd1 Lots to love in this video. A reminder of how freakishly strong Duxbury was, how classy Montrose was - even on a pudding of a pitch - and how good Danny Lloyd was, both at football (obviously) and also at winding opposition fans up!

OTD in 2017, County travelled away to York Street where @dannylloyd1 struck twice to make it 6 wins in 7 for Jim Gannon's men 🎩 It was part of a run that would see the Hatters lose only once in the league from mid-November to the end of the 2016/17 season 🪄 #stockportcounty

@countyscarf It's going to be a season of gradual progression. We're playing better now than we were last month and I'm confident that trend will continue as players bed in, get used to what's expected of them and hit form. We can do so much better and yet we're still 7th and in the mix.

FT: County 1 Reading 1 A really flat second half, on the pitch and in the stands. One win in five. Just can’t kill teams off at the moment. We don’t look anywhere near promotion contenders currently. #StockportCounty

@GabSutton As a County fan, I agree. The biggest impediment to our progress would be losing Challinor and the management team. Keep them, refine the squad and we'll do really well again next season.

It might not feel like it tonight, but I don't think Stockport County staying in League One is necessarily the worst thing for them in the long run. They'd already had three promotions in six seasons, two in previous three, so I imagine the thought of going up yet another level right now would've been exhilarating, yet almost exhausting at the same time. Whereas, at least this way, they get more of a window to take a breather and evolve the squad at perhaps a more sustainable and balanced rate. Either way, stunning progress has been made: all connected should be immensely proud.

Our season comes to a heart-breaking conclusion, as Orient advance on penalties. #StockportCounty

@HLTCO @SmnLlyd5 Thanks for the recommendations. I don't think anyone's suggested this one yet. This is a beautifully written account of a son discovering his dad's career.

As it’s World Book Day, I thought I’d offer a couple of football recommendations which have really stuck with me since reading them. “United With Dad” by Simon Lloyd (@SmnLlyd5) is a deeply personal story of his relationship with his Dad through a shared love of their club; a book which made me think deeply about the bond I share with my own Dad & Palace simultaneously. “Red Balloons” by Liam Walsh (@liampw) is the heartbreaking story of Liam’s shared love of Swindon Town alongside his father and two sons, his experiences with grief and mourning hit me like a train, whilst serving as a reminder of what a powerful emotive force football has on us as supporters. Cheers. 🫡

@_HannahJBrown In a recent interview in the run up to the County game he talked about being given the players to work with. Maybe he's frustrated about losing so many players in the summer and the quality of the new signings or his lack of input into them? He's prob taken Crawley as far as poss

I can’t get my head around this unless it’s financially led, he believes his level is league two, or he wants to be *the* go-to turnaround manager, does a job, and moves on, OR things are as chaotic at the club as they were. I’ve bloody loved what he’s achieved at Crawley.
