@gabsmashh To me, it’s a financial loss after being let down. If I bought the beers on a promise of being paid back by my friends and they didn’t, I’d be out of pocket.

what does it mean if someone is "out of pocket" to you? i am finding that there is a generational difference in the use of this term lol.

Would anyone be keen if I started running physical men's mental health events, for anyone to come along to learn about the topic i.e. risk factors for men, barriers to help-seeking & how to have important conversations?

A lot of men won't tell you they're struggling with their mental/emotional health until they feel they're through the worst of it because they realise that 'saying it out loud' makes it real & bcos they're not always sure they'll be able to stay alive when they're in the depths.

day 12 of #24daysofmicrobes: measles usually manifests with symptoms of red spots/fever. in 1963 scientists synthesized a vaccine & many in the developed world are now inoculated. however, WHO still records measles as one of the top causes of vaccine-preventable childhood death!

Just heard the Home Secretary stand up in Parliament and declare that "the British people support the Rwanda plan". I'm sick of these guys telling me what I support. I do not support the "Rwanda plan". If you don't either, please retweet.

this is a ~festive~ flu virus for #24daysofmicrobes day 7! no, flu vaccines cannot cause the flu, & it's more than a bad cold! most years, the US death toll from the flu is around 34k-43k.

day 3 of #24daysofmicrobes: zika is a virus transmitted primarily by mosquitos. it was discovered in 1947 in uganda! symptoms are usually mild; however, in 2015 they coincided with a dramatic increase in birth defects. zika is still considered a public health emergency today.

#24daysofmicrobes day 2! toxic mold (straw mold here) is a black fungus that achieved recognition in the 1930s when horses on Russian farms became sick after eating contaminated hay. while the mold itself isn't pathogenic, it produces toxins that can cause varied health issues.

HAPPY DAY 1! most stomachaches are caused by gas or acid, but some can be caused by microbes! shigella here is one of the most common. it is VERY contagious: you can become infected after as few as 10 individual bacteria get into your system. wash your hands! #24daysofmicrobes
