At the time when ActionSA is winning the course if insourcing workers in municipalities, we have the Minister of @HomeAffairsSA forcing the outsourcing of a key public service to Tenderpreneurs. Please, let's stop him from taking the Dignity of a permanent job by giving our people to Labour Brokers. @AtholT @MikaNgobeni @DereleenJ @DrKgosiLetlape @AlanDBeesley @KobeMalebo
Funzi Ngobeni@Funzi_Ngobeni

In @Action4SA ’s lifetime, workers will reclaim their full dignity. 394 security positions and 199 cleaner posts will soon be advertised in the City of Ekurhuleni. We have been consistent champions of insourcing, and today we are seeing the impact of that fight. Amandla. ✊

@mathebulati The Government of National Unity seems to be advancing its own political agenda instead of focusing on the welfare and interests of the masses.

Stop the DA Minister from privatisatizing DHA digitisation to a private company! Workers must be insourced. The ANC is selling out in the GNU

When we warned you that Home Affairs was being auctioned off to the highest bidder, you called us conspiracy theorists. You said "the private sector does it better." Look at the receipts. 10,000 graduates are being forced off state contracts and onto a third-party "Phetogo" system with a 4-day ultimatum. This isn't efficiency, it's the systematic liquidation of public service. The state is no longer the employer, it’s just a middleman for private interests. 🇿🇦 The blueprint for State Surrender is right here.👇🏾 Step 1: Cut the DHA budget by R1.03bn. Step 2: Leave a 40% vacancy rate. Step 3: Transfer the remaining workforce to a private entity like "Phetogo" on 4-month crumbs. You defended this as "modernization," but it's actually the sale of our national sovereignty. While you were cheering for "partnerships," they were signing away the state’s capacity to function. "It’s just digitization," they said. "The private sector is just helping," they said. This memo proves otherwise. The @HomeAffairsSA under the @Our_DA minister @Leon_Schreib is officially washing its hands of its own staff and handing the keys to "Phetogo." This is what a state in liquidation looks like. We told you Home Affairs was being sold, now you have the proof. Stop falling for neoliberal euphemisms.

The ANC and DA government are detrimental to the lives of our people especially youth. When we warned people that this privatisation is dangerous they didn’t listen. Short sightedness consumed them today we have young people being forced out of government contracts with the potential of permanent employment and benefits unto private contracts with an ultimatum. Worse this service of banks is only catering for changing greenbook to smart nothing else. Vuka Darkie.

Staff are being coerced into signing contracts on extremely short notice, with the threat of immediate unemployment for those who do not comply. The situation is chaotic; the department has closed the digital hub until after Easter, leaving many with no choice but to return home. It is unacceptable that the Department, which claims to need young professionals to fight systemic corruption, is subjecting them to these very practices. #VoetsekDA #VoetsekZile #VoetsekSchreiber

How can Department of Home Affairs outsource such a big project? The Department of Home Affairs' digitisation project has been embroiled in controversy following mass protests by young graduates and concerns over the reappointment of a previously dismissed service provider, Phetogo Digital Transformation, despite poor performance issues. The graduates are demanding permanent employment within the department rather than being managed by private labour brokers. Workers are frustrated with their roles being reduced to month-to-month contracts under private management, despite handling sensitive national records for years on a low stipend of approximately R5,500. Protesters argue that handling sensitive civic records warrants direct government employment to ensure the security of South Africans' personal data. @GovernmentZA #NoOutSourcing

BREAKING NEWS: Department of Home Affairs allegedly forcing digitisation stuff to be outsourced to a private company. The Department of Home Affairs, Minister Leon Schreiber and his team of directors want to allegedly outsource the current digitisation staff of between 1 200 and 1 500 to a private company, Phetogo. The employees have been under the DHA for 3 years, going on 4 years now. They are allegedly earning a salary of R5 000 without any UIF or any benefits. These are graduates who hold qualifications. Now the DHA wants to outsource them to a private company under the same conditions of exploitation. On the 24 March 2025, police were called in one of the hubs at Silverton, Pretoria because the employees refuse to work under such conditions. All the hubs were closed down and we were told to go home and wait for further communication. Allegedly they are threatening to fire the stuff and appoint new staff if they refuse to sign with Phetogo a private company. The stuff refuse to be exploited and outsourced.

@HomeAffairsSA Give digitization staff working at the Department of Home Affairs credit for what they have achieved. Permanent jobs is all that they require to continue pushing the mandate of the Department, which is delivering services to our citizens. @CyrilRamaphosa @Leon_Schreib

Today we met with over 150 employees of the Department of Home Affairs who are responsible for digitising more than 350 million departmental records. They’ve been abused and exploited by the department for 3 years.
