Preakness day. Another wide open triple crown race. I see four potential winners - 7, 9, 10 and 12. Need to include #1. #11 is a longshot with a chance to cash, but liked that more at 30-1 than the current 16-1. #10 could get on the lead and stay there. #7 is very dangerous.

That was a great race. Last to first for Golden Tempo. Clearly not in my forecast. Nor was the 70-1 shot Ocelli to be anywhere near contention! We'll try to get back to the winners circle next yr. Will have something on the Preakness in a couple weeks.

Some random Derby notes. *Pletcher has had 74 Detby starters and has two wins. *Further Ado has run against one horse that is in the Derby - The Puma. And The Puma beat him. *There have been 92 horses labeled deep closers by Brisnet in the derby since 2000. Only 3 have won.

Derby week is here! This year is as tough as I can ever remember, because there are so many very logical outcomes. There are at least 7 horses who if they win, no one would be surprised. Write up will be done by Wednesday night. Check here throughout the week for updates.
