@nelsonblake2 @Marvel @MarvelRivals I would like a little more overshield when she takes on her brawler form. But otherwise I’m still happy. The other Strategists never really felt fun for me. But at least now I can default to her is I need to play strategist.

@Marvel should put a White Fox comic out asap! She’s huge in @MarvelRivals right now. She’s the most fun Strategist I’ve played. Mostly cos her kit has things I enjoy with my play style. Get her a solo comic now!

Happy birthday to Marc Silvestri today! I first met Marc in the very early days of Image when I was at Extreme Studios. I’ve only ever heard Marc raise his voice at anyone twice…and they’ve both been at me and well deserved. It’ll be 28 years for me at Top Cow next month and it’s been a wild ride. Here’s to many more!
He’s a leader, a pioneer, a teacher, a motivator and someone who is always additive to the creative process. It’s been my honor to serve beside him all these years.

@nelsonblake2 That's a fair critique—honestly, I think we can extrapolate a similar premise over many corners of the industry. Runs are getting shorter, talent is being trained and cultivated less, there's less opportunities to grow, veterans leave for greener pastures. Brain-drain all around.

If color is making the lineart, there's probably something fundamentally wrong with it. If used, color can add quite a bit but even for open lineart, you can finish it with one strong value pass that has no color. The industry just has too much tolerance for bad color work.

Every single comic I’ve worked on, our colorist has been our secret weapon. Colorists help establish drama, mood, legibility. Finding the right colorist whose style works with the line art is *essential.* Good art makes or breaks a comic. Good colors makes or breaks the art.

@Peposed A fundamentally strong colorist can adapt to the penciler but as a medium, mainstream US comics never corrected the tradition that began when photoshop emerged. We still don’t differentiate appealing rendering from solid fundamentals in color. Pencilers used to self correct.

@Peposed For me, this is one of those situations where the granular, technical aspects matter. I think most people don’t know when the colorist is adding value, harmony or both and this is what leads to the issue of mismatched talent.

Choosing the right colorist will elevate the line art no matter what, whether the artist is a journeyman or a superstar — sometimes, they’ll even save the book entirely! But choose a colorist whose style is a poor match for the line art? You’ve shot your entire book in the foot.

Remember, a handful of your favorite creators - a lot over 50-make almost half of their income at conventions. When you see them selling books , prints and sketches, please understand this keeps their lights on these days and they are incredibly grateful for your support. These people also love to hear what you enjoyed of their work- what you do for a living ,and a bit about you- okay, that last one I am speaking for myself, but most love the interaction.
