you know... I'm disappointed in hackers. I really thought we'd see a huge surge of hacktivism – hackers acting in the public good, targeting the powerful etc – but despite how digitally reliant our institutions have become, that didn't really materialize

The rhetoric of protesters being a "safety" issue is gaslighting when there's literally no safety issue UNTIL you introduce city police forces into the equation. See also how unsheltered tent populations are regarded as "safety" issues.
