Vic Mellor’s latest message sounds more like a political fantasy than an economic plan. He claims President Trump secured more than $18 trillion in commitments, yet the White House’s own investment tracker currently lists $10.6 trillion. He then promises to somehow grab Rhode Island’s “fair share,” without naming a single project, company or realistic plan. Then it gets even stranger. Mellor talks as though President Trump and Secretary Rubio are preparing to “open” Cuba and give him an “all clear.” In reality, the administration is imposing additional sanctions on the Cuban regime. Meanwhile, Mellor’s own DOJ filing names a Cuban government security agency as his foreign principal and says he proposed social-media strategy, content and political activities on its behalf. The same filing checks a box saying an agreement existed, gives it a date, and then states: “There is no agreement or understanding.” He also presents 5.9% as Rhode Island’s “actual” unemployment rate, while the official June rate was 4.1%. (RI Department of Labor & Training) This is not serious leadership. It is inflated numbers, selective statistics and self-appointed foreign policy. Rhode Islanders deserve answers, not another unbelievable story.

@DocSkoly You spend more time taking cheap shots at Vic Mellor than giving Republicans a reason to vote for you. Rhode Islanders want solutions on affordability, taxes, housing, and the economy—not political stunts. I don’t see the leadership needed for federal office.

Dr. Skoly, this was a disappointing post. Rhode Islanders deserve a campaign centered on ideas and solutions—not gimmicks or misleading attacks. Filming someone to incorrectly say Vic Mellor is running for Senate doesn’t strengthen your campaign; it only raises questions about its credibility. This Republican primary should be about who has the best vision for Rhode Island. Voters want to hear concrete plans to address the cost of living, grow our economy, support small businesses, improve education, and make our state more affordable. Instead, your campaign seems more focused on taking shots at Vic than giving Republicans a compelling reason to support you. You’re making so many bad choices.

This Father's Day, let's recognize a truth that shouldn't be controversial: Fathers matter. A father's presence can change the trajectory of a child's life. Children raised in stable, two-parent households are less likely to live in poverty, more likely to graduate from high school and college, and generally experience better outcomes across a wide range of measures. Nick Shirley knocked on a door in California. He was looking for a 126 year old voter. He found Doris. Doris is 86. She was born in 1940. She has not voted in 51 elections. And when Nick showed her what the California Secretary of State's voter rolls said about her, she was stunned. "Well, the Secretary of State is wrong." Yes, Doris. She is. This isn't just a California problem. Judicial Watch is suing California over 873,000 inactive voter registrations. An election integrity group found more than 94,000 deceased individuals still registered to vote in that state alone. And remember, Rhode Island's own voter rolls are so dirty that the DOJ sued our Secretary of State for refusing to turn over the full data. Seth Magaziner blocked the SAVE Act. Minnesota Democrats voted against removing dead voters from rolls. California is trying to make it illegal to even film the fraud. One standard. One legal voter. One legal vote. Counted accurately. Tonight, shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The President and everyone in attendance are safe. And for that — I am grateful. But I want to say something that goes beyond tonight. This has to stop. The threats. The violence. The rhetoric that treats fellow Americans as enemies rather than neighbors. We are 250 years old as a nation — and more divided than at any point in most of our lifetimes. Somewhere along the way, too many people in power decided that division was a strategy. It is not a strategy. It is a tragedy. Tonight I’m not thinking about politics. I’m thinking about the country I love and the people in it — all of them. Condemn the violence. Protect every life. Remember we are Americans first. The next 250 years can be better than the first. But only if we choose — together — to make them that way. God bless the United States Secret Service.
