In this #OpenAccess paper, Alexandra Hendry (@OxExpPsy) et al. examine whether family history of #ADHD associates with stronger problem-solving skills amongst 2- to 3-year-olds. An interesting read. bit.ly/4bz62kK

In autistic vs non-autistic vs mixed pairs, not finding differences in social motor synchrony (SMS)? journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/13… contrary to the authors' hypothesis that "SMS will be significantly higher in non-autistic dyads than those containing at least one autistic individual"

Nice study from @ThemisEfth et al.! "Contrary to our first hypothesis (H1), the frequentist and Bayesian analyses did not reveal significant differences in SMS [social motor synchrony] between the three dyad types." = more new & robust evidence against Double Empathy theory.

I'm excited to share my first registered report on social interactions in @journalautism! Our study explores how social motor synchrony – the natural mirroring of movements – impacts rapport between autistic, neurotypical, and mixed dyads. Thread 👇 journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/13…

"Contrary to our hypotheses, rapport was relatively consistent for non-autistic adults across group types. Unlike autistic adults, they reported similar levels of rapport when interacting with both non-autistic or autistic adults" = speaks against Double Empathy theory.

How autistic groups build towers: "every member... participated in the tasks" "no participants... built a separate tower from the rest of the group" & "no...group ever rebuilt a tower after already beginning one" journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/13… unlike nonautistic & mixed groups (Table 4)

#3 This misclassification can have significant implications for research and clinical practice. The authors recommend that the optimal cutoff value be used in all future research and clinical practice.

#2 This new research found that 36.80% of participants classified as having high autistic traits using the optimal cutoff (≥6) would be misclassified using the suboptimal cutoff (≥7).
