Correction - New evidence confirms Mahshid Fallahi is alive
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has obtained new evidence confirming that Mahshid Fallahi, the transgender woman whose killing was previously reported, is alive. Hengaw sincerely apologizes to Mahshid Fallahi, her relatives, and the public for publishing and republishing a report that was subsequently shown to be false.
In recent days, Hengaw and several other human rights organizations reported that Mahshid Fallahi, a 30-year-old transgender woman, had been brutally killed in Sanandaj (Sine).
Although Hengaw spent several days attempting to verify the report and received information from sources in Sanandaj whose previous reporting had proven reliable, several individuals close to Mahshid Fallahi later contacted Hengaw and stated that the report was false. Hengaw subsequently requested documentary evidence to establish that Mahshid Fallahi was alive.
According to evidence recently obtained by Hengaw, including a video recording in which Mahshid Fallahi confirms that she is alive, it has now been established that she remains alive. Due to the personal information contained in the video and because its publication would constitute a violation of Mahshid Fallahi’s privacy, Hengaw has decided not to release the recording.
In its original report concerning Mahshid Fallahi’s alleged killing, Hengaw asked readers to contact the organization if they possessed any credible information regarding the case. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who reached out and assisted in clarifying the facts.
