Not only is it not a myth, there are some very good reason for the pay gap. A fire fighter should get paid mor than a receptionist regardless of sex or any other immutable considerations. They need to compare job for job hours for hours. Guess what, you work less hours, you get less pay. Machinists gets paid more than a fast food workers. Does anyone have a problem with this?

Brandishing a knife is a crime. Not following a police offer's orders while being detained is a crime.
When the officer saw the criminal preparing himself to attack the officers he gave him a clear order. "Take one step and I will shoot you". No ambiguity no threat just a statement of fact. The man was armed with a deadly weapon and took that step towards the officer and the officer put him down.

The info here doesn't provide that. There is nothing illegal about carrying a knife. So it depends on why they stopped him.

NYPD has a four man chain of increasing force that they roll into these armed standoffs with and it works very well and can be used by any four officers. It doesn't have to be a highly practiced tactic to be greatly effective. They'll enter in a four man stack
