This idea that “they lowered the numbers so it’s all fake” just isn’t how history works.
Early Soviet estimates were found to be inaccurate. They refined one camp’s estimate—Auschwitz-Birkenau—from an early guess to a researched number (~1.1 million).
The ~6 million comes from total documented losses across Europe. Different data set entirely.
