“The more they persecute them (the Israelites), the more they (The Israelites) reproduced and flourished.” That is a verse in the Torah describing the Israelites in Egypt. But that’s not just a verse in the Torah. That’s our story as a nation. The more darkness our enemies bring, the brighter our light shines. This manifests in countless ways including Israeli tech. The more they terrorize us, the more we innovate. If there is person, a single individual who embodies this idea, it is Izhar Shay. While he may not wear a kipa or consider himself a religious Jew, he is more righteous than any religious Jew I know. Let me explain. I have known Izhar for over a decade. He is a legendary tech investor turned politician turned investor. Also a huge mensch. We don’t see eye to eye on many topics but our debates are always civil and respectful including the one we had yesterday. So why do I say he is so righteous? Izhar tragically lost his son, Yaron, on October 7th. From what I’ve heard, Yaron was a remarkable human being. Izhar, tragically, lost many friends and family members in the war. Then, Izhar - together with Hilla (Yaron's mother) and his children (Yaron's siter and brothers) - decided to do something for all our fallen soldiers and civilians. They started an organization called Next October. (nextoctober.org). The concept is simple. Every family of a fallen hero is connected to an Israeli startup, which supports the family’s commemoration activities financially in many ways. and emotionally. It could be anything as simple as calling the family before every holiday to commemorating their loved one in a company-wide ceremony. This beautiful initiative has grown to the point of having over a thousand 450 Israeli startups on board and over 80 volunteers overseeing the process. To name one example, an Israeli startup called Quantum Art’s team commemorates a physics teacher by volunteering to teach high school physics at the same school where he taught his students for many years. Ronen Deitchman z”l was a physics teacher through and through. He was a man of knowledge, curiosity, and endless generosity toward his students. He was murdered at the Nova party on October 7th, leaving behind a loving family and a world of students who were waiting for his next lesson. Out of this loss, and through a partnership with Next October, an inspiring memorial initiative was born: A team of physicists from the startup Quantum Art chose to carry on Ronen’s legacy by volunteering to teach high school physics and spark scientific curiosity in the next generation - just as Ronen loved to do. One of the volunteer physicists shared: “This project is moving, empowering, and gives hope. It’s a way for us to volunteer in a way that uses our professional skills and, at the same time, to get to know the remarkable person we lost—a whole world in himself. It allows us to build and bring a bit of beauty back into the world in response to destruction and loss.” Izhar has managed to put together a steering committee for this incredible organization that includes some of the most legendary human beings from the tech ecosystem. Some of those names include Chemi Peres (Son of Shimon Peres), Adi Soffer-Teeni (general manager of meta Israel), Karin Mayer Rubinstein (CEO & President Israel Advanced Technology Industries Association), and the list goes on and on. In addition to connecting startups to families, Next October also helps those companies grow and make sure their business is sustainable. Also, they have about 250 volunteer mentors and have created numerous investment and bus-dev opportunities for the companies participating in the initiative. A little more about Izhar’s son, Yaron. Yaron was part of a special unit of the Nahal Brigade that was on the border for four weeks just before October 7, and he fell on the first day of the war. They guarded Kibbutz Kerem Shalom, and in the morning they were attacked by hundreds of terrorists whose goal was to murder, destroy and kidnap innocent civilians, as they did in so many other places. There were three of them in the team - Yaron, his commander and another soldier, and they faced an attack designed to destroy the whole kibbutz. They fought for about an hour, Yaron was murdered and many were injured, but the kibbutz was not damaged and everyone was just recently allowed to return to the kibbutz when it became possible. Ophir Shay, Izhar’s older son, went on to say: "For the past few years I have worked at a high-tech company and I really love the company. But the thing I liked the most was being Yaron’s big brother, and everything I do now is in his memory. At Next October, we don't invest, we just help the initiative startups to succeed and connect investors from all over the world to our companies. We want the companies to succeed, and we will do everything possible to help them with mentoring and entrepreneurship. After we connect them, we will put them in touch with families of victims from October 7th. My mother and her commemoration team connects our startup companies with bereaved families, to help preserve the memory of their dear ones. This is a dual approach - we want companies to establish a significant business, and at the same time we want them to also remember the victims. The companies undertake to honor the victims in any way they can according to the company's capabilities, to talk about them at events or mention them in any way, so that everyone knows who these people are.” So Izhar and I met yesterday after a very long time and we talked tech, a little politics, but mostly, we talked about Next October. That’s why I say that Izhar is righteous. He paid the ultimate price and instead of drowning in sorrow, which no one would blame him for, he decided to do something incredibly impactful that will benefit the families, the Israeli tech ecosystem, and the world. Next October is the manifestation of that verse, only with a few words changed. “The more they tried to destroy the Israelites, the more the Israelites built!” You can read about Next October on their website, but I just needed you to know about this incredible organization that tells the story of the Jewish people better than anything else I can think of! And they are calling upon entrepreneurs to join their initiative. Sadly, the number of victims of the October 7 war went up dramatically to about 1,900. That’s why Next October is working hard to spread their message around and to convince you - the people who are building a better world despite everything they tried to bring upon us - to join them in their mission. 1/3 קמו לא מעט מיזמים בעקבות ה7 באוקטובר, אחד הקרובים לליבי הוא Next October אמיר פישר ז”ל חלם להיות כדורגלן מקצועני, אבל אהב את ישראל יותר. הוא חזר לארץ במיוחד כדי להתגייס לקרבי – ונפל ב-7 באוקטובר. היום, אקדמיית כדורגל בגאנה, מרחק קצר מהמקום שבו גדל – נושאת את שמו.

אתמול בבית שגריר ישראל בוינה: בכירי הקהילה היהודית במפגש עם משלחת חברות Next October. בימים הקרובים היזמים הישראלים יפגשו עם משקיעים ובכירים בתעשייה שישמעו על ההזדמנויות שהם מפתחים ועל הנופלים שהם מנציחים. מפיצים חדשנות, מנציחים את הנופלים, בונים חוסן. ככה זה נראה בפעולה 🇮🇱

חברות Next October מנצחות את הסטטיסטיקה: 2 מתוך 3 הסטארט-אפים שהגיעו לגמר של תחרות Coller באוניברסיטת תל אביב, חברים בקהילת Next October. לא פחות מרגש: שתי החברות בחרו להקדיש חלק מזמן הבמה שלהם כדי לספר על הנופלים שהם בחרו להנציח: רס״מ אביב ברעם ז״ל, ורס״ן ד״ר יאיר זלוף ז״ל.

כך כותבת אמא של נועם אברמוביץ ז״ל, אדוה. נועם ז״ל הייתה תצפיתנית בנחל עוז ונרצחה ב-7 לאוקטובר. בחברת Nutek, שבחרה להנציח את נועם ז״ל, החליטו לקרוא לדגם הראשון של המוצר שלהם - מכשיר המסייע לזהות סימנים לסרטן השד בעת הניתוח - על שמה. יחד הם ימשיכו להבטיח שנועם לעולם תהיה.

״נועם הייתה חד פעמית. הדרך שלה הייתה אהבה, אהבה לחיות בכל מובן המילה. למצות כל רגע ורגע, לטרוף את החיים בעוצמה… אבל נועם לא הייתה, נועה תהיה. נועם תהיה. נועם תמשיך ותחייה. שרק אם, לצד הכאב הנורא מכל הזה, נזכור שנועם לא הייתה, שנועם לעולם תהיה״

תודה ל 300+ אנשי ההייטק הישראלי על כל גווניו, המשפחות השכולות והיזמות והיזמים שמנציחים את יקיריהם שנפלו במלחמת שמיני עצרת, המתנדבות והמתנדבים המסורים, על יום של חיבורים, תמיכה הדדית והרבה רצון טוב, במסגרת טקס פתיחת המסחר בבורסה לניירות ערך, הבוקר בתל אביב. @nextoctober710 "הם באו להרוס, לרצוח, לענות, לשרוף ולהשמיד. אנחנו בונים עולם טוב יותר באמצעות חדשנות ישראלית, לזכר כל קרבנות מלחמת שמיני עצרת, החיילים ואנשי כוחות הביטחון וכל האזרחים שאיבדו את חייהם. אוקטובר הבא הוא ביטוי לחוסן הישראלי, לרוח היזמות ולאופטימיות שמאפיינות את כל מי שנמצאים כאן היום, את מי שחזרו משדה הקרב אל העשייה היום-יומית בבניית חברות הייטק ישראליות שינציחו את הנופלים ובמקביל יבנו מחדש את כלכלת החדשנות הישראלית. כל אחת ואחד ממי שאיבדנו במלחמה הזו היה להם אופי מיוחד משלהם, היו להם רצונות ואהבות וחלומות מיוחדים משלהם, ומגיע להם שנזכור אותם, כל אחת ואחד מהם, בעבור מי שהם היו. הם אינם איתנו, אבל מאות חברות ישראליות ינציחו כל אחת ואחד מהם בדרכן המיוחדת. הם יהיו תמיד אתנו, לנצח, וביחד נמשיך לבנות כאן חדשנות, כלכלה ומדינה לתפארת. ולכן אוקטובר הבא יהיה טוב יותר, וזה שאחריו יהיה עוד יותר טוב וכן הלאה. זו התשובה הציונית, הלאומית, היהודית, הישראלית הנכונה למי שכפו עלינו את המלחמה הזו. הם באו להרוס, אנחנו - כולנו - בונים עולם טוב יותר."

תודה ענקית למאות היזמים והשותפים שהצטרפו אלינו היום לכנס הראשון של Next October. תודה למשפחות השכולות, שפתחו את יום המסחר יחד עם נציגי חברות הסטארט-אפ שבחרו להנציח את יקיריהן שנרצחו. מרגש לראות כמה גדולה הקהילה שהתגבשה לה סביב מטרה אחת: הפצת טוב, לזכרם ולכבודם 🇮🇱

מרגש: חברת NeoMare, שמפתחת צמיד מציל חיים לים, החליטה לקרוא למוצר החדש שלה על שמו של לוחם שייטת 13, רס״ל אופק רוסו ז״ל.

“נתנאל יאנג ז״ל היה חייל בודד שבחר להגיע לישראל לבד מבריטניה ולשרת כלוחם בגולני. הוא נהרג ב-7 באוקטובר, ואנחנו ב Seemore Data בחרנו להנציח אותו. היום בחצי הגמר של תחרות פיצ׳ים הקדשנו את השקף האחרון לנתנאל וסיפרנו עליו ועל הערכים המשותפים לו ולנו כחברה״

אלון וארז קליינמן, אחים תאומים בני 21, הוקפצו ב-7 באוקטובר ונלחמו יחד בעזה. אלון ז״ל נפל בקרב. לארז היה חשוב להעביר מסר לחברת UltraSight שבחרה להנציח את אחיו אלון:
