It’s interesting because Ansu has adapted his game into something very close to the profile we’re chasing at striker.
He’s associative, comfortable between the lines, and a distinct scoring threat.
Why not keep him around as a squad player, at least?

I strongly believe the keys to our success next season lies in the midfield. Specially, the fitness of our midfielders.
Flick’s system is such that the two pviots have some of the most demanding roles in all of football. It’s draining beyond belief.
If Pedri and Frenkie do not get the necessary support, it is impossible that they go into the latter stages of the season in good shape. This is also why I like the idea of bringing Bernardo in.

It’s not even remotely debatable, absolutely. Yes, we have some incredible talent, but go back to the state of this squad when Flick came in.
The backline was beyond dire. Gavi was out long term. Frenkie & Raphinha were complete outcasts. Lewy looked done. He relied on Casado and Pedri as his ONLY midfielders for half a season.
If we are where we are, it’s largely because of Flick. He’s maximised this squad well beyond any manager in football could.

I’d still give it a 7/7.5.
Not where we wanted to be in Europe, but as I said before, never take the league for granted. And it’s actually been a very clinical domestic campaign.
Not to forget, we did so on the back of a summer where Inigo left, Raphinha was frequently injured, and Lewandowski declined dramatically.

@user6lack @Cubarsi_Reign @NealGardner_ Something's gone wrong when he never plays Roony only to play him this game. It's also about prioritizing, if all the best players are tired at this point of the season. Maybe it wasn't worth playing Pedri 90 minutes every single game in la Liga.

Final thoughts. To get knocked out by a side that trials us by 22 points domestically, not once but *twice*, it’s inexcusable.
I have A LOT of love for Hansi Flick and this squad, but said it when the draw was announced, anything less than a SF finish (at minimum) would be an automatic failure in Europe. And it is.
That’s taking nothing away from Atleti. They knew how to exploit us and did it with immense efficiency, but we’ve got to look inwards. Between Inter last season and Atleti today, we’ve REALLY dropped the ball when it’s mattered.

@Cubarsi_Reign @NealGardner_ Barca have gotten favorable draws in the Champions League without capitalizing on it. It's not a miracle for a club like Barca to perform like that in Europe. The depth is partially Flick's fault as well as he's never rotating.
