Browns QB Shedeur Sanders in a press call, discussing regrets in the pre-draft: "Some things I [did] that seemed right at the time, I could've went about it a different way."

Mayfield is talking about Steve Wilks, of course, but I'm always appreciative of his ability to motivate himself and be open about it. You can call it arrogant, but I prefer to call it transparent. Something we value when talking to athletes.

RedZone is (was?) no commercials as much or more as it was every touchdown. Tough look for a paid service.

Any way you approach the Colts' decision to go with Daniel Jones in Week 1, it's not good. Whether it's Richardson being passed over by Shane Steichen or Jones earnestly meriting the starting job over him, it's the last outcome you'd be hoping for.

If Anthony Richardson is going to fail as a former No. 4 overall pick, it should be on the field - not the bench.

Let's have fun and grade the trade. Cowboys: B+ (A- if Pickens is extended) Needed WR help; got it. 24, lots of upside still. Playing for a contract this year. Steelers: B- Maximized value of the asset, but weakened the offense in the process. We'll see if they add anyone.

From a Steelers perspective, acquiring somewhat comparable total value to what was given up to acquire Metcalf is mildly impressive (assuming Pickens was on the way out regardless). It leaves Pittsburgh's WR corps thin, however, and nothing was done in the draft to brace for it.

Cowboys get: • WR George Pickens • 2027 6th-round pick Steelers get: • 2026 3rd-round pick • 2027 5th-round pick Dallas' 2025 draft makes a little more sense now, while Pittsburgh maximized value on Pickens, as an expiring contract, after acquiring DK Metcalf.

Ravens kept it diplomatic when announcing the release of Justin Tucker, but it feels a little insulting that it's being framed as a "football move." While there may still be a process ahead, nobody is eager to deal with that kind of headache for a 35-year-old kicker.

Obviously, the Shedeur Sanders slide played an enormous factor in drawing additional interest on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. The 2020 NFL Draft (Joe Burrow), held at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, remains the most-watched draft on record.

Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft was the most-watched Day 3 on record. With an average of 4.3 million viewers across major outlets and digital channels, it was a 43% increase over 2024. This draft's three days also averaged 7.5m viewers - making it the second-most watched ever.

I'm not sure what some want to happen to Ulbrich here. Protocols will justifiably be reviewed. Shedeur's moved on. Barring some form of wild evidence suggesting he was complicit, the embarrassment of the whole ordeal is sufficient. This isn't the Kennedy Assassination.
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

The Falcons will not take any action against their defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. They are continuing to review their protocols to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.

@blakemurphy7 I've definitely considered that myself, but I think the determining factor is that Manning didn't managed to make it a tougher decision to make when Ewers returned. Fair or unfair, individually speaking, the ULM game was a little bumpier than expected.

I do wonder if the failing to supplant was less even on Arch and more on this factor: It was Ewers' last year and they wanted to try to get a title/boost his draft stock and go with a veteran vs. lumps from a first time starter. Guessing that it might not be til 2027 for Arch.

Beyond his name, Arch Manning is a toolsy passer with prototypical size and above-average athleticism. However, he's been prematurely ordained and we've yet to see him tested. Failing to properly supplant Quinn Ewers is a consideration. Which isn't to say he won't be a star.

The reality is we enter a new CFB season with a fairly clean evaluation slate on Manning. Dubbing him a presumptive top pick in the 2026 NFL draft is temerarious - especially before he's played a down as the Longhorns' unquestioned No. 1. Supreme talent base, though. No doubt.

Re: Shedeur Sanders prank call I feel for Jeff Ulbrich, a bit, as he's a non-involved third party. It's embarrassing. Beyond that, it was a pretty stupid and relatively inconsequential thing - though it should've never happened. Also, Shedeur's response to it was phenomenal:
