Best part of our new book _Spanish and the Medical Interview: Clinical Cases_ is the beautiful #diversity of #Hispanic #Latinx contributors 👇 (doctors, language professors, and med students!) who authored cases and acted in the audios #medtwitter #MedicalSpanishIsMySuperPower

We found that although 78% of respondent schools offer some kind of #medicalspanish, and 58% of educator respondents were Hispanic/Latinx, having more Hispanic/Latinx/UIM students/faculty was NOT associated with meeting basic standards. @YoonSooPark2 @nfrancone @maria_santos93

Student and Faculty Diversity is Awesome but it is not enough to ensure high-quality #MedicalSpanish programs in medical school. rdcu.be/ciqnu ¿Sabes por qué?🧵

'Hispanic Paradox' is often cited for Hispanics' similar/lower Infant Mortality Rate compared to Whites, despite being more socioeconomically disadvantaged. Acknowledging heterogeneity of the Hispanics (Nativity, country of origin) may fill care gaps & address disparities. CDC ->

COVID-19 vaccine FAQ: Do vaccines cause infertility? NO. Neither Pfizer/Moderna mRNA nor J&J adenovirus vaccines can alter DNA or damage eggs or sperm. Furthermore, some women in vaccine trials became pregnant after receiving vaccines. The vaccines DO NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY.

Happy to have been able to share how @HealthEquityNU affiliated FQHCs have adapted their implementation efforts of a cancer care delivery model amidst #Covid_19. Read preliminary results here (ow.ly/R6rX50E8zpC) and check out our poster presented at #AACR21 April 10-15!
Alliance to Advance Patient-Centered Cancer Care@cancercarealli

How has #CancerCareCoordination changed during #COVID19? For one FQHC, changes were swift and dramatic. Analysis from @HealthEquityNU shows preexisting models have been disrupted. More research will help inform new #telehealth strategy: ow.ly/R6rX50E8zpC #AACR21

Medical schools are increasing medical Spanish opportunities (yes!) but there needs to be more emphasis on the quality and sustainability of these courses.
Pilar Ortega@pilarortegamd

New national survey published in @JournalGIM shows that despite 78% of U.S. medical schools reporting #MedicalSpanish programming, only 21% meet minimum basic standards. Read it at rdcu.be/chIQp Time for action in #MedEd to reduce structural language barriers!
