You're not entirely wrong, there are a lot of DeSci projects that are pure narrative with nothing underneath. But the problem they're trying to solve is real. Researchers can't get funded without institutions. Funders can't contribute privately without being doxxed. Compute costs kill promising science before it starts. Crypto actually solves specific parts of this. ZK cryptography lets someone fund a cancer study without their wallet appearing on-chain.
