@raghu_venugopal I welcome you to read the article, instead of misquoting half the sentence. Ie: For that UTI patient, it’s certainly reasonable to free a PCP’s time by shifting it to the pharmacist, allowing the PCP to see other patients who require it.

A total fallacy: “This frees up time for physicians” - ask a doctor

#Opinion: It’s good policy to allow health care professionals to practice to their full potential when health systems are continually stretched. This frees up time for physicians and nurse practitioners. trib.al/C3Xc77p

Very pragmatic and even article by my colleague @nhanjon about the value of pharmacy prescribing for minor ailments. Appropriate antibiotic prescribing isn’t a concern if patients need them. The uti protocol being followed is appropriate prescribing.

10) This wont solve all our healthcare issues... but is a small step forward to move the needle toward a more equitable and accessible healthcare system for Ontarians.

Here's my piece in the @TorontoStar on pharmacists prescribing. Some key take aways: 1) Minor ailment programs are available across most provinces and with Alberta having the broadest and longest-tenured program since 2007. Ontario caught up.

What you need to know about #pharmacist (RPh) minor ailment (MA) prescribing in #Ontario – a🧵 While most have been supportive that RPhs can prescribe for 13 ailments (that we previously assessed & treated, just without the independent authority to prescribe Rx medication PRN),

Always a pleasure having @cafreeland and family come by. Thank you Chrystia for always acknowledging the efforts of #ontpharmacists (and colleagues across the country) and of course, entrusting me in your care!

I got my second booster shot at my local drugstore this evening. If you are 18 and over in Ontario, you too can get your second booster! And thank you to all of the pharmacists across Canada who are continuing to keep us healthy and safe. 💉
