Today was a historical Day for us as for the first time 2296 doctors from private hospitals in 38 districts along with Government doctors congregated to discuss strategies for reducing maternal mortality. As we know 57.3% deliveries in TN happen in Govt. Health facilities and 42.7% deliveries happen in private hospitals. Given the significant no. of deliveries happening in the private sector, seamless coordination is the key to reduce maternal mortality to a single digit as planned by GoTN. Wonderful discussions and feedback. Year 2025 is already looking up with MMR at 40.4 between april 2024 to Dec 2024 down from 45.5 between April 2023 to March 2024 . These milestones reflect Tamil Nadu’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Congratulations to the hardworking teams of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and the dedicated NHM team guiding them. A well-functioning health system starts with excellence in quality of care.
