These are not the surpluses the governor and lawmakers were looking for. Structural imbalance is budget code for the condition of future spending projections exceeding future revenue projections.

@nhylden @OmarFatehMN 😂 EVEN WORSE! It's a shadow taxi outfit that is hoping to drive out Uber/Lyft to gain market share so they can jack rates up. If they were so great why haven't they been more successful? Uber/Lyft Drivers already make over $20 PR hr yet the Council made it problem. No thanks.

Great! I agree, Minnesota IS a labor state! Let’s get our bill protecting Rideshare drivers signed into law. ALL workers, regardless of background, deserve these strong labor protections.

Been operating in metro for four years - Parent company is Blue and White Taxi - provides almost 1,000,000 rides each year for nonemergency medical and school rides - they are from MN, know the industry, and pay fair wages to drivers. Mpls ordinance - works!

@_RyanWinkler And let competitors have a shot at paying drivers fair compensation, training them to support individuals with disabilities, without surge pricing - like what has been happening in your former House district for four years! @RideSureUSA

If you want to reduce the power of a duopoly holding a city/state hostage, play the long game. Create start up grants for new operators, subsidies for competitors, and maybe tax breaks. Create a competitive market, then pass that model on to other cities/states. Create leverage.

@grant_hauschild @IRRRB I first worked with Mark when we were both employed at Minnesota Power, and frequently had reason to interact with him during his leadership at DEED and IRRRB. I have great great admiration for his attitude and creative approach to making things happen. RIP, my friend.

We lost an Iron Range Giant tonight in Mark Phillips. His service as @IRRRB Commissioner and as an all around advocate for the Range will leave a big hole. During my campaign & legislative session, Mark would call me frequently to provide his advice. I will miss his guidance
