@tenkayshijou Yeah, my static still has 6 of the same 8 people we started with in late gordias! If you're a good player who's pleasant to work with, there are plenty ty of opportunities. But if you're a great player who isn't, you wind up in the lfg rotation

@ni5n Funnily enough most actual like world prog groups i know have kept most of their members for the entire expansion

Was talking to someone about this, why is it that the default in XIV seems to be to just have groups that go into raid with the expectation of blowing up after prog is done? Everyone complains about how awful recruitment is but most groups i see last like a tier and then implode

@tenkayshijou Everyone else copies them, because that's how good players do it. No real reason, they just assume that there must be one instead of staying together.

@tenkayshijou At the high level, it's because most of the people lfg at the start of the tier are lfg for a reason. They might have bad personalities, or performance flaws, or just not be interested in long term commitment. Those groups tend to be imploding before they cross the finish line

Every person who has ever smiled at you in the streets has committed some act that if you knew about it, would make you profoundly dislike them. We have all been bad, small, petty, unlikeable, cruel, downright mean. Authors are not special "problematic" beings, they're just more public. Part of being an adult is recognizing that without mercy for our fellow human beings, and ourselves, we'd all be condemned to death. Reading fiction should help us understand that we're all irreparably tainted with evil, every system is corrupted, every line is broken. And like, that's okay. That's what it means to be alive.

You can also see similarities to characters like Estinien, who likewise struggled with finding meaning, but pulled up just in time.

Zenos is literally a direct mirror of the player, and in the end, he had the answer that Hermes was searching for and Meteion failed to find. He is arguably the most thematically important character in the entire games overarching plot.
