Thousands of people have been laid off from the game industry this year. I’ve spoken to dozens of workers about the devastating toll — people who’ve applied to 100s of jobs while dealing w/ the financial and mental struggle of being out of a job before the holidays. Their story:

#StevenUniverse wasn’t just a show for me: watching it was a life changing experience. For @Polygon, I reflect on the show’s groundbreaking representation a decade later, particularly Stevonnie, who showed me it was okay to break the gender binary.

I’m obviously boiling and have too much to say on this subject. But for now I’ll just say my heart is with the entire Jez staff who just got laid off, including incredible abortion reporters at a time when the beat couldn’t be more relevant to national politics. Please hire them.

Thanks to my lawyers who worked years to arrive at this settlement. I hope it helps deter future assaults on journalists and can be used as a benchmark in other 1A cases. You're free to film law enforcement without fear of injury or your device getting broken. It is our right.
