🪖 @ArmedForcesBowl 1U - Rice/Texas State o28.5 1stH (+104) 2U - Rice/Texas State o55 (-110) This total opened 59.5 and has been bet down over the last couple weeks but I don't think it won't go lower than 55 which is the most landed on total in FBS games over the last 20 years. The reason for the drop is Rice will be without starting QB Chase Jenkins who left in the portal. Redshirt freshman Lucas Scheerhorn or true freshman Patrick Crayton Jr. is expected to start. That doesn't sound great on the surface but Jenkins was not a prolific passer with only eight big time throws all season, so I don't know how much of a dropoff there is here. The Owls also have some talent in the backfield especially freshman Tyvonn Byars who has shown burst at times. Texas State is gettable on defense, 112th in points per game (30.6) and 126th in EPA per rush. On the other side the G.J. Kinne's "Go Go" tempo should wear down the Rice defense. The Bobcats beat the Owls 45-21 in the 2023 First Responder Bowl. I wouldn't be shocked if we saw a similar scoreline here.
