DO YOU KNOW… You may or may not know this, but over the past 23 years, I’ve written and produced for or with many artists under a lot of aliases. Worked with all sorts from Darren Emerson, Tinchy Stryder, Jae5 to Dope Earth Alien, April Morgan, Low Steppa, Ferreck Dawn & Guz and more. During the COVID pandemic in 2020, I started writing again. Firstly as WZA making Garage beats, and secondly as L.I.T with Reza Hemming. The first 2x L.I.T tracks (“Caught In The Rain” & “Beat Won’t Stop” on Sink & Swim and Techne respectively) have over 35m Global streams, and to date we’ve done very little in terms of Marketing & Promotion. The WZA project started as a brain dump, something to express myself through Garage dubs and for this I kept things even more secretive. I didn’t want to associate what I was doing to Defected in any way and as such decided to make and release on some smaller independent labels anonymously, honestly for the love and for my soul. Funnily enough, I get all my House fix from the array of talent we sign to and work with at Defected and our associated labels. This was just something outside of that. I wrote over 100 records during the pandemic, many people ask how the fuck that was even possible ha! Since returning to the office I have continued working alongside with my L.I.T partner, Reza and are beginning to extend that to others. Just the other week, myself, Cpen, Alex Mills and Reza knocked up 3 tracks in one afternoon at Defected HQ. A few people started clocking on to the WZA project. Sam Divine has mentioned it a few times on radio and at a Basement bash. Darius Syrossian too. Darius in fact has been one of the biggest supporters, and has now picked up “Do You Know” which will be coming out on Moxy’s ADE sampler. So I thought now is probably a good time to tell people. To say the WZA project has been modest to date is an understatement. The images on socials are of my Son. The streams are super modest. Marketing and Promo non-existent, but it’s all been for the love. A passion. An itch I like to scratch outside of my responsibilities as a CEO. I’m grateful to have collaborated with many talented Garage producers as WZA - including MPH, Smokey Bubblin’ B, Soulecta, DSK as well as releasing on labels including EZ’s Nuvolve, UpCycle, Simma Black, Garage Shared, Strictly Flava, Four40, Pogo +++ The DJ support has been great, and for that I’m super grateful. Especially as I don’t think many know it’s me. “Do You Know?”. You do now. Out now on Moxy, 23rd October 2023. PS: it’s pronounced W-Z-A (not “Wizza”). My kids used to take the piss out of my for calling SZA ‘S-Z-A’ so it could only be one thing haha

Defected Croatia 2023 - SOLD OUT. Wow. I have to be totally honest, I did not expect to get there. This year has been tough across the European Festival markets. I have heard from a lot of peers that it's been a tough year, some down 20-30% across the UK & Europe so to get to sell out has been well received. Can't wait to see you all - Fans, Artists, Friends.... just a couple of days away. HWFG!
