Twitter is getting worse by the day. So much completely made up stuff. Sensationalist nonsense with no sources, nothing that can be verified because it's all imagined! And so many AI generated comments. All to boost engagement and presumably dollars.

@JeffMJohns1 @mrjeffu In 2015 they changed their *interpretation* of it. Now they say they can act if the country's survival is threatened. So they twisted it from a strict pacifist stance to one that allows involvement at even the hint of danger to Japan, e.g. China/Taiwan or an energy crisis.

Earlier this week Takaichi was asked “If Trump were to request that Japan dispatch the Self-Defense Forces, is it correct that you would not even consider it?” She refused to answer because it was a "hypothetical" question. It's not hypothetical anymore.
Jeffrey J. Hall 🇯🇵🇺🇸@mrjeffu

President Trump is calling on Japan send ships to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. If Prime Minister Takaichi says yes, it could be the most dangerous overseas deployment in the history of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces.

I want to be the lorry driver for my local public bath. Twice a day, he gets to take a scenic 2-hour drive out into the countryside, fill up his tanker with natural spring water and drive back. Call it 8 hours a day of driving, but beautiful views, low pressure, easy driving.

Zelensky supporting the aggressor, Takaichi giving away 80 million barrels of oil during an energy crisis, and Starmer allowing the US to use its bases to launch "defensive" bombing raids... The world is officially upside down.

@ken_w_davies @BladeoftheS By that argument, Belarus didn't take part in the Russia-Ukraine war. Allowing Russia to attack from their territory made them complicit. So why is the UK not?

The claim that over 30,000 people in Iran were killed and over 300,000 were injured in just two days of protests is absurd. Can you imagine how overwhelmed hospitals would be? That's 2 casualties every second from firearms and batons. Impossible!

@serialinvesting @BujokMr Hang on, the reason for the war in Donbas in 2014 was because the pro-Russia Ukrainians in the east didn't support the overthrow of their elected Russian-leaning president. 14,000 people were killed prior to 2022, and when Russia did invade, millions fled... to Russia!

The Iran War is going to turn into Ukraine 2.0. The Russians have been bombing Ukraine, with high precision missiles & drones, every single day for the last 4 years. And Ukraine still stands, why? 1. It’s a SMO, not a total war. 2. NATO continuously rearms Ukraine. 3. It is a very large country. So to believe that Iran is going to simply fall by an air campaign, is a pipe dream. The Russians and especially the Chinese, are going to continuously rearm Iran, and any initial material losses will be replaced by a high functioning & mass producing military economy of Russia, and China. The US/NATO, which already have begun running into supply issues in Ukraine, will not be able to keep up. So what do I believe is going to occur? You will have a ground invasion attempt by the Kurds from the NW & ISIS from Iraq, with help from Israeli/American Special Operations—which will quickly run into logistical and geographical problems. During this time, you will have the armed color revolution attempt occur in Tehran, which will more than likely fail, given the organization of Iranian security forces, and the support of the people. Then, as the front line begins to develop, there will form a stalemate, which will begin the war of attrition, which benefits the Iranians. As the front lines begin to wither, and the color revolution fails. The US will be forced into declaring war, and officially putting our own troops on the ground. Factor in the coming dollar crisis, we are looking at the fall of the US empire.

I think everyone's playing FIFA these days (just a guess), but the best football game ever was Sensible World of Soccer (1994). Best controls, best top-down view graphics, best sound effects. The "thump" when the ball gets kicked could not have been any better. If you think about it, Sensible Software really gave us some epic games: Wizball, MicroProse Soccer (C64 and ZX Spectrum versions), Mega-Lo-Mania, Cannon Fodder... and of course this timeless classic.

Yes, NIST modeled the full probable collapse sequence in NCSTAR 1A and 1-9: fire-induced initiation via thermal expansion disconnecting girders from Column 79 (after 7 hrs uncontrolled fires), leading to floor failures, column buckling, east-to-west progression, and global collapse—including analysis of the north face's 5.4s descent with a 2.25s free-fall stage due to unsupported exterior columns. They investigated explosives/controlled demolition via simulations, audio/video, seismic data, and witness accounts. Conclusion: no blast events occurred—no sounds at the 130-140 dB level expected even for a minimal charge, no physical evidence. They didn't test steel residues as no indicators supported it (samples were also limited/unidentifiable). Full details in NIST WTC 7 FAQs.

@grok @andrewmbenner @il_ventod_oro @redpillb0t But is it true that NIST only studied up to the initiation of collapse, not the collapse itself? And although they state no explosives were detected, did they actually look for explosives?

Understood. Firefighters warned of WTC7's imminent collapse by early afternoon due to uncontrolled fires (7+ hours), debris damage from WTC1, and severed sprinklers—setting up a collapse zone. Reuters wires turned "may collapse" into "has collapsed," which BBC and CNN repeated in the day's confusion ~26 min early. Jane Standley later called it an honest mix-up with no script. NIST's 2008 report (simulations + evidence) concluded fire caused critical column failure and progressive collapse—no explosives detected. Skepticism on symmetry/tenants continues among some engineers, but data shows no proven foreknowledge or demo.
