I know Alex Palou trying to get out of doing a Taylor Swift dance dominated the racing airwaves yesterday, but he also won a race! More on how that happened below ⬇️⬇️⬇️:

Alex Palou gets his first win around the streets of #LongBeach! It was bound to happen eventually. The Spaniard had never finished below fifth in Southern California. Pole sitter Felix Rosenqvist and six-time champ Scott Dixon round out the podium. #IndyCar

For the first time in my life, I took a decent picture of Felix Rosenqvist. He starts on pole in Long Beach, but neither he nor my photographic capabilities are the only stories coming out of IndyCar this weekend. open.substack.com/pub/nickcharle…

I won’t pretend I’m not frustrated with the #survivor50 merge, but the 17-person vote, with the three main targets going idea people have proposed is one of the few options that would genuinely be worse. That’s how you end the Aubry v Genevieve storyline with both going at once.

The BBC’s international TV feed continually bouncing back to coverage of Scott Mills’ firing is exactly why cutting the world service was such a big loss.

I want to see more college QBs test the middle of the field, but the mere fact Simpson does it does not make him a good decision-maker. A lot of those throws were very stupid.

Anyway, Cade Klubnik is clearly QB2 because his arm is real and his legs are real, even if the brain isn’t really there. Simpson and Nuss are solid if healthy, but they never are and they don’t have good enough arms to adjust.

Yeah, I’m so sure CAA is pushing for fake draft analysis to make their client go earlier in the draft, which is not how the draft works. Completely impossible for Dan Orlovsky to just have a bad opinion. The only real possibility is that it’s collusion.

You cannot have three reasonably significant injuries in your one year as a starter, display scattershot accuracy at the best of times, and get credit for “NFL throws” simply because your stupid decisions are to the middle of the field instead of outside the numbers as QB1.

I can build worlds where Mateer, Craig, Byrum Brown, and Lagway all get into the conversation too, maybe even Minchey or Novosad out of nowhere. They are not likely enough to note.

Don’t set up doom and gloom discourse for when only four of them pan out, that’s still a great class. The only guys without uphill battles to the first round rn are Manning and Moore, and we’re coming off a season where every mainstream QB prospect faceplanted.

So many things here. 1. Get Sayin off the list. That’s not an NFL arm. 2. Throw Mestemaker, Hoover, Mensah and Iamaleava in. 3. Yes, there “could” be eight first round QBs. We also know there won’t be. We’ve seen how this goes every year. Be better.

.@McShay13 believes the 2027 QB class could be "historic" and "maybe the best ever" 👀 - Arch Manning - Dante Moore - Julian Sayin - Brendan Sorsby - LaNorris Sellers - Trinidad Chambliss - Jayden Maiava - CJ Carr "There could be eight 1st-rounders next year, it's that loaded."

A lot of this discourse is about Maiava having “reached his ceiling,” which is very far from the truth. Maiava’s mental game in particular has a lot of room for growth, his growth just won’t be as flashy. Longstreet has more room to grow, but that starting point is below ground.
Nick Charles Currie@nickcharlesc

There’s a lot of intrigue in Longstreet because he threw like nine RPO hitches, a pop pass, and the latest crosser I’ve seen in my life. He did not in any way show that he was ready in his limited playing time. The assumption he’d surpass Maiava (who I’m low on!) was always odd.

And let’s be honest here, USC had 99 problems in 2025 and QB wasn’t one. I still don’t get the panic at the prospect of Maiava being USC’s starter in 2026.
