Bakkafrost’s Portree site is a crime scene. Environmental, biosecurity and consumer safety regulations have all been thrown into the fish shredder. Tesco surely must move to protect its customers and its reputation - and dump Bakkafrost.

This scallop #dredger continues to plunder these waters. This is 'meant to be' an #MPA. Designated in 2020, 5 years on & it's nothing more than a paper park/tick-box exercise for @scotgov. Zero protection!! @ScotGovFM @MairiGougeon @TheOpenSeas #inshorelimit

Part of the #Sea2Me program that we delivered last month alongside @DYWWestHighland and @MowiScotlandLtd, the Plockton High School pupils visited one of Mowi Scotland’s #salmon farms.🐟🌊 More here: bit.ly/SS-Sea2Me @LantraScotland | @LantraUK | @KishornPortLtd

We’ve just published our #OceanWitness report - which documents the condition of Scotland’s inshore seas. Thanks to everyone involved in the surveys, research and analysis at a critical time for our marine environment. Check out the report online 👉 openseas.org.uk/ocean-witness/

The Scottish Government is required by law to license fishing like scallop dredging in accordance with the National Marine Plan - thereby protecting our vital marine habitats from further decline. Unfortunately - despite court judgements in 2023 and 2024 - they are still not making these decisions transparently and have acknowledged that vessel license transfers have been made unlawfully since those legal rulings. Thanks to @scottishgreens for raising this issue at Holyrood at a crucial time of rising public awareness of the need for #ocean protection. #moreprotectionmorefishmorejobs Read our blog for more detail 👉openseas.org.uk/news/scottish-…
