I get wanting better pay in the industry, but this is how contracts work. You agreed to a flat fee before anyone knew the movie would become a massive hit. If you wanted upside, you could have negotiated for points, royalties, or a profit-sharing agreement. Taking the guaranteed money, watching the movie become huge, and then saying you deserve a cut after the fact is ridiculous.

Microsoft has reportedly shut down Compulsion Games, the studio behind South of Midnight. The report comes after Mike Straw said employees at Compulsion and Arkane were worried about their studios’ future. He later added that some of his sources were senior staff, who said there was “real concern” inside the teams. Compulsion joined Xbox in 2018 and released South of Midnight in 2025. The game recently won a Peabody Award lol Microsoft hasn’t commented on the report so far.
