@damienguard Coding day to day is quite specific. In my book, its more interesting to think about a leader who can roll up sleeves and do whats required for the team/project. Aside: can we mix in vision, strategy and customer engagement? I expect a lead to be able to step up to those. :)

@data_mesh_learn @googlecloud Look forward to more discussion and hearing your thoughts, showing this in action, as well as taking the product further, building on v1.

@nikhilk @googlecloud From a quick skim, I saw a LOT of problematic statements in this. I'll circle back next week but also you literally can't build a data mesh based on technology. That's part of the core meaning of the phrase. Don't oversell, show and don't tell

@jamiet @googlecloud Yes, metadata is core to everything. The products are complementary: Dataplex provides the management interface and automated extraction of metadata, while Data Catalog provides the metadata search. The two services/teams are two halves of metadata management.

@nikhilk @googlecloud Hi, just trying to wrap my head around this. Seems to be some sort of metadata management tool. Hence I wonder how it is different to Data Catalog. Is there overlap or are they complimentary? TIA

@JeffHandley @terrajobst Brings back memories of my college days... hands down, compiler project was the most fun, and then had another go at it with script#. Hope your tinkering is just as rewarding!

@timheuer Having worked within Google’s mono repo for some time now, I’ve come around to really appreciate it… search and ability to navigate references to browse code rocks.

I hate searching many different repos for the one small thing I need to change. Also, I hate mono repos.

I am retiring. After 21 years at Microsoft and 36 in the industry, I still love my job and the people, but I have many other things I want to do and for various reasons the luxury of options.
