@HypraSeaPea i started a rewatch and am noticing this pretty early on, a lot of times instead of sage brotherly advice jake will really just go ITS FINE ITS FINE IT'S FINE over and over until finn gets distracted whenever he gets worried about something

it can kinda make you look at Jake different once you realize that! Like yeah he's silly and jokey, but he probably developed those qualities as a way to keep his little brother happy. Especially when you consider how young they were when their parents died

This scene (and specifically Jake's line at the end) always makes me think of this later moment where he reveals he spends a lot of his time keeping Finn from focusing on negative thoughts.
