What did Teegan, @symbioecology, and I do with our Saturday night you ask? Rewrite the lyrics of @lizzo’s Truth Hurts to be about coral bleaching, of course.

#GlowingGone @glowinggone I chose to depict a single, newly settled polyp to stress the importance of coral survivorship at all life stages. The blue swirls show how water flows around a single polyp. This painting was inspired by the work of Dr. Douglas Brumley from MIT.

I completed my marine biology degree at #UHM with summa cum laude distinction! It wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support from my family, professors, mentors, coaches, and friends. Now, on to a Master’s at #CSUN with Dr. Peter Edmunds. 🤓

The ocean is my continual inspiration and motivation. I knew studying hard, interning & volunteering during my undergrad would help me better understand the ocean and lead me to my own scientific discoveries one day. In sum, I did it for the ocean and will continue to do so.
