@jjfuller72 @_agent49 Bad metric to use for many schools. EADA forces revenue to at least match expense, so if you are spending 60M, your revenue has to match or exceed. Don’t believe me? Check the EADA cutting tool - not a single school will show a deficit. And 75% will match expense and rev $ to $

Other revenue figures obtained from public school's financial and tax documents (FOIA requests) may vary for some schools. However, this EADA database is worthwhile to report since it is standardized and includes all private schools as well.

@procaddiecoach @ninergolf Do you think the golf programs at Wichita State is $2M annually? If not, prob close. I think facilities drove the decision in Wichita.

It seems to me that not enough administrations lean into the golf programs. More people play golf into their adult and retirement years than any other sport. After the revenue sports, I would think golf would have to be next on the list in an athletic department as far as trying to grow.

@procaddiecoach @GolfweekRingler Understand what you are saying, but total spend should be at forefront of true cost savings. If you are looking to save $ to be able to operate you aren’t getting it with cutting tennis and golf. Golf and tennis are easier targets because low impact on opportunities lost.

@ninergolf @GolfweekRingler Cost per player seems to be guiding these decisions. Saving $2m by eliminating 18 golfers and 4 coaches is easier than saving $4m by eliminating an entire track program with 36 players and 8 coaches. At OU the cost per male golfer is $189k. Track is $39k.

@GolfweekRingler I could see a nod to the costs this year since schools pick up their own tab for regionals. Short lead times on flights may make flying more $$$ than in years past.

Is this the year when the NCAA D1 Championship Golf Committee doesn’t go straight rankings to select regional fields?

@GolfweekRingler Getting rid of golf is easier. 9 men 9 women makes it a wash for title IX. Plus the cost per player is higher than just about every other sport.

@GregLevinsky @MattBrownEP Schools that are funded by institutional support or student fees can attribute revenue to cover the expenses of the sport which skews the way data is interpreted

@MattBrownEP How would one gain $2m revenue from tennis? Is that attributed to advertisements or sponsorships too?

Just for some context here, that $3,284 mark is the third lowest revenue line in the COUNTRY, only ahead of Cal State Fullerton and Kennesaw State. Central Arkansas, for example, reported over $300K in tennis revenue. that being said... (1/2)
Brandon Marcello@bmarcello

The Arkansas men's and women's tennis programs spent a combined $2.5 million and brought in $3,284 in revenue for the 2024-25 reporting year, according to the school's NCAA Membership Financial Reporting Survey.
