"The future belongs to those who prepare for it today" - Malcolm X Somalia’s collapse is no longer a question of if, but when. Yet Puntland’s so-called leaders remain in denial, clinging to Mogadishu’s crumbling throne instead of preparing for the inevitable. #PuntlandFirst

You defend Hassan Sheikh’s version of federalism, then a few sentences later you’re attacking federalism like it’s the root of all problems. Do you not see the contradiction? This isn’t some national flaw, it’s intellectual laziness. A lot of the diaspora, despite all that Western education, haven’t developed even a basic understanding of political systems or economic ideologies. At the same time, they don’t understand how Somalia actually works on the ground. So you end up with confused takes like this. Not because Somalis oppose everything, but because you don’t even know what you stand for.
Malin Irab@MaalinIrab

Somalis will find a reason to oppose anything. The war against Al Shabaab? A conspiracy project. One person one vote? Incomplete and illegitimate. Indirect elections? Haram, we reject it. The constitution? Hassan Sheikh just sewing his own shirt. Never mind that every single presidential candidate ran on completing it. Oil production? New colonialism. Federalism? Dividing the country and splitting society. So where exactly do you lead a people like this? Centralized governance. That is the answer. A strong unified state with one direction, one vision and one chain of command. Federalism in Somalia has become an excuse for every regional lord to block national progress.

Turkish companies have been profiting of Ugandas security efforts in failed Mogadishu. Uganda has provided certainty, Turkey has profited without contributing to the security. Lol, you can't make this up. Now foreign nations are fighting over a non existent country. Humiliating.

Cash or Cut Ties: Uganda’s Army Chief Issues $1B Ultimatum to Turkey A diplomatic storm is brewing after Uganda’s powerful military chief reportedly demanded $1 billion from Turkey, warning that failure to comply could lead to a complete breakdown in relations within 30 days. The explosive demand, attributed to Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has raised eyebrows across the region, with analysts scrambling to understand the motive behind such a high-stakes ultimatum. #Uganda and #Turkey have maintained growing ties in recent years, particularly in defense and security cooperation, making the threat of a sudden rupture all the more shocking. So far, there has been no official confirmation or response from Ankara, leaving the situation shrouded in uncertainty. Observers warn that if the ultimatum is real and tensions escalate, it could have ripple effects across multiple regions, especially where both countries have overlapping interests. For now, the clock is ticking. And the question remains. Is this brinkmanship, or the start of a serious diplomatic breakdown?

@ninwax_bartay At least HSM has a realistic federalism version during his term, several states were formed, including Galmudug hirshabelle southwest and northeast states, and he completed the constitution, established the status of Mogadishu, and held direct local elections. But what about u?

What exactly does that entail? Somalis do not need a new colonial power exploiting their vast natural resources under the guise of “brotherhood” while propping up corrupt leadership. Note: If Türkiye continues its current approach of secrecy, selective engagement, and soft domination while alienating the Somali people and aligning itself with a corrupt few - its presence will ultimately be rejected. I hope Ankara chooses a more transparent and principled engagement in Somalia to safeguard its investments before public trust is lost. 🇸🇴🇹🇷

Said Deni is a blind man driving a Lamborghini, unaware not only of the road but of the machine beneath him. This is not restraint, it is a deeper limitation, the kind Einstein alluded to when he spoke of how our perception defines the boundaries of our reality. A man cannot act on opportunities he does not truly see. Puntland sits on extraordinary potential, a strategic gateway with the raw ingredients for trade dominance and energy leverage, yet under Deni it drifts, directionless. There is no grand vision because there is no clear perception of what is possible. The tragedy is not miscalculation but blindness itself, a leadership that does not recognize the scale of what it holds, and so drives forward without ever really knowing where it could have gone.

I saw some soy boy MJs recently asking why Said Deni hasn’t congratulated Laftagareen. Low-level MJs will be the death of Puntland they spend too much time engaging with the politically homeless and the non-consequential.

The traditional elders of Puntland praised and encouraged the Puntland First Movement for the relief efforts it provided to the people of Puntland affected by the drought. Alhamdulillah, all praise is due to Allah. Today, Allah blessed parts of Puntland with His mercy through rainfall. We ask Allah, the Most Merciful, to completely relieve us from the drought and grant ease to our people. Indeed, He alone is Ar-Razzaq, the Provider, and in His bounty lies our sustenance.

Puntland First Movement extends its sincere gratitude to all the generous benefactors from Puntland who contributed to providing Eid support to the orphans of the Puntland Defense Forces, demonstrating strong conscience, unity, and a high sense of social responsibility. We especially commend the generosity and support you extended to the 910 orphans left behind by the heroes who were martyred in the Calmiskaat mountain operation. This valuable contribution brought joy and hope to many hearts at a time when they needed support and care the most. Puntland First Movement also wishes all the people of Puntland a joyful and blessed Eid, sharing this special celebration particularly with the 910 orphaned children who are celebrating with us today. Their happiness is our happiness, and we remain committed to always standing by them. We also express our deep appreciation to the Puntland Defense Forces Command for their close cooperation, trust, and transparency demonstrated throughout the implementation of this humanitarian effort. This partnership is a strong example of how unity and mutual trust can produce tangible benefits for the community. Once again, we thank everyone who contributed to the organization, funding, and execution of these charitable efforts. The Puntland First Movement will continue its role in connecting the community and working toward the common good.

Ibn Battuta, a figure commonly used to reinforce the myth of somali ethnic identity writes here “I travelled by sea for four days and arrived at the city of Zeila, which is the city of the Barbar (Berbera people). They are a group among the peoples of the Sudan (a medieval term for the dark-skinned peoples of Africa) and they follow the Shafi‘i school of law. Their land is a desert journey of two months; its beginning is Zeila and its end is Maqdishu (Mogadishu). Their livestock are camels, and they also have sheep that are famous for their fat. The people of Zeila are dark-skinned.” He described the people inhabiting the Horn as "people of Sudan" who follow the shafi'i madhab" Even your own source contradicts your claim and reinforces the original point. Foreign descriptions of these people are exactly that, foreign and therefore, invalid.

1. Ibn Battuta’s “Al-Rihla” in the 13th century stating the land of the Berbers (Somalis) extended from Saylac to Muqdisho. 2. Futuh Al-Habasha in the 16th century lists various Dir, Hawiye & Darood clans under the “Somali” qabiils. If you are a confused wecel, we are not.

"People talk about Somalis as if we have always been one people. That is wrong. Flat-out wrong. The Horn of Africa was never a single ethnic entity. For centuries, it was a patchwork of clans, villages, and local states. Loyalty belongs to a family, clan, or local ruler. “Somali” as a broad identity? That came later. It was imposed."

Said Deni and the Politics of Mediocrity: Imagine a leader entrusted with a proud people, commanding strategic land, untapped resources, and a moment in history where the global and regional order is shifting in ways that could elevate his nation to new heights. Yet instead of recognizing the scale of the opportunity before him, he remains trapped within the narrow confines of outdated thinking. Rather than reading the changing landscape with clarity and vision, the administration of Said Abdullahi Deni appears confined by its own limited intellectual horizon. Where strategy and foresight are required, mediocrity prevails. The moment is lost, reduced to small ambitions and short-term political maneuvering. History is filled with such tragedies. Like rulers in the final chapters of fading empires, the opportunity slips away while routine politics is mistaken for statecraft. The same old story repeats, a people capable of greatness, led by men whose imagination never rises beyond the small ambitions of their own time.

BREAKING: Aid in Gedo fuels political firestorm as online attacks intensify This is where things stand. #Ethiopia is feeding residents in Gedo. At the same time, individuals who share lineage with former Somali leader Mohamed Siad Barre are seen lining up for assistance from the very country he went to war with in 1977 and lost disastrously. The historical irony is difficult to ignore. Meanwhile, some from that same political and social camp are active on social media attacking #Somaliland, branding it illegitimate while presenting themselves as defenders of Soomaaliweyn nationalism. The contrast is striking. Families standing in food lines. Online voices denouncing Somaliland. Political figures in #Mogadishu hotels positioning themselves as future leaders of an internationally backed but fragile federal system. If sovereignty and unity are the standard, consistency matters. It is difficult to preach uncompromising nationalism while communities depend on the very foreign power once framed as an existential rival. Outrage is easy. Institution building is not. Stability requires more than rhetoric. And when governance gaps persist, others inevitably step in to fill them.

BREAKING: HSM Forces Daallo Flight Carrying MPs to Abort Landing in Garowe In a dramatic and highly controversial move, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud forced a Daallo Airlines flight carrying Members of Parliament and civilians to turn back to Mogadishu while it was on approach to Garowe. The aircraft was reportedly descending when the order came through, stunning passengers and igniting immediate political backlash. Critics say the decision reflects the growing politicisation of state institutions, accusing the administration of using control over national airspace as a tool in escalating federal–regional tensions. At a time when Somalia speaks of democratic transition and institutional reform, the incident is intensifying debate over whether power is being exercised with neutrality or with political intent.
