Mone Chiba 🇯🇵 143.88 / 217.88 On being 1.28 points away from the podium "1.28… Even though I gave absolutely everything I had, it still wasn’t enough. I don’t really know how to put it into words, but it’s a very complicated kind of frustration, something I felt for the first time. But today, in both the short and the free, being able to skate on the Olympic stage feeling this happy, or rather this grateful, and being able to perform calmly and as myself, that was truly a beautiful experience. I think it’s something that will stay with me and truly carry me forward into my future competitions." On what she was feeling like talking to Kaori: "All sorts of emotions rushed in at once. Kaori was also feeling the same way. Our tears came before the words." On how she felt when she learned she was in 4th place: "To put it very simply, I'm frustrated that I finished fourth, if I was only looking at it from my own perspective. But the performances of the three skaters who made the podium were truly wonderful, and I sincerely praise them from the bottom of my heart. It's hard to put into words. There were things I'm frustrated about, and there were things that were good and not so good. The only thing I can do now is give everything at the World Championships." On how she felt after finishing her performance: "I was very happy that I was able to perform Romeo and Juliet at the Olympic stage until the very end." On whether she felt she was able to give everything: "There were some moments where I was able to break through. But there were also some moments where it led to a deduction in points. Still, I felt very good about my concentration throughout the whole performance, and about how I felt from the six-minute warm-up all the way to the actual skate. I want to make sure I properly use that feeling in competitions after the World Championships." On Kaori's performance: "I thought that maybe this would be the one, so I watched while feeling deeply moved the whole time. I wanted to burn it into my eyes. I thought I also wanted to become an unforgettable skater like her." On her first Olympic experience: "I feel very grateful that I was able to skate here in Milan, Italy. To be able to perform freely and completely as myself made me truly happy.
