This IU team is a shining example as to what elite coaching & development looks like from the coordinators to position coaches. Fundamentally sound, to poise in big moments, physicality, and mission driven with everyone pulling together. We have lacked all of this. Onwards we go.

Watching the cfp playoffs makes it abundantly clear how vital it is having a disruptive and dominant front, on both lines. And, it is frustratingly clear how the LOS from our lines hasn't been close to that. Lots of hope and belief in Coach MC and Co. to restore the physicality.

Thought Gilliam played well this year, I would have liked to keep him but it’s time for Penn State to start to recruit 325lbs Defensive Tackles. PSU hasn’t had a “big” DT since PJ Mustipher in 2022

Recent hours revealed increased confidence from a variety of conversations at Penn State, Iowa State and nationally, that momentum is building between PSU and Matt Campbell. Anticipated roster resources are an enticing piece. Campbell long considered a "do-more-with-less" coach.

Forget the coordinators’ pay? The army of analysts? Not the time to cry “poor” regarding Penn State FB. Franklin said best staff and roster assembled here — no one forced those expectations on him.
Are you comparing OSU loss vs Michigan to PSU loss vs UCLA? “Ball knower”… lol.

@buchignani When a loss happens, optics determine reax. Of course, no moral victories, absolutely not. Had we come out with improvement on the OL & the offense - establishing drives, being able to actually run and/or pass the ball, you feel differently. The first 3 quarters were unacceptable

Monday morning. Still pretty mad tbh. Certainly not alone. Most I’m hearing from are way further off the deep end than I.
And that was the thing with this game (this season, really): A high-risk/high-reward proposition with the attendant potential to go horribly wrong.

@AllPSUfootball @KevinHornePSU Pete...the last 2 games vs OSU and Oregon last night, PSU scored a grand total of three offensive TDs in regulation. Just terrible.
The B1G title game was an outlier performance. In the regular season, when it has mattered under this OC and QB, the results are sobering.

Did Ohio St. have a pulse? (Buckeyes were ranked 2, 3, and 5)
Last year in B1G championship v Oregon, PSU put up 37 pts, rushed for 292 yds.
Oregon was unbeaten & ranked No. 1.
Guessing they "had a pulse."

It makes little sense to me that the entire tying drive and first OT you ran the ball down their throat and the first play from 2OT you decide to throw it and look what happens.

@ThomasFrankCarr Beyond the fact that he passed it like it was a programmed throw...had no feel that Luke wasn't really open even with a good pass. DA had his mind set that he was passing it regardless. The whole offense is clunky and predictable...the plays don't build and layer off each other.

I’ve never been a QB, and I don’t get paid to call plays for a football team, but why are you calling this into the boundary with no space to work. And why are you throwing this into such a tight window? On 1st down? In overtime?!?!?

That pass requires tremendous precision to get it over the corner and underneath the safety, and to the short side of the field. Too much to ask in that spot with a QB and pass game that have been off the mark all season. It was a nonsensical play call.

@LandonTengwall It cannot be this difficult annually to be more productive on first downs to then set up manageable 3rd downs. It's fascinating and should be studied how much of a struggle it is each and every year.

@ThomasFrankCarr T-Frank, really enjoy your work. A question for JF would be why has it been so difficult to move the sticks on 1st and 2nd downs? I can't remember this many 3rd downs vs nobodies in a long time. Much of the 3rd down struggles seem to result from the first two downs being poor.

@ThomasFrankCarr Blocked very well on this play...need to get more yards off that run. The run game is fine, not great. No deep passing game either. Our offense, unfortunately, appears to have to play the long game to score. Hard to win games against better opponents that way.

@fortheblogy @LandonTengwall What a sobering video...great work, sir. It is beyond belief all the missed blocks and assignments, and absolute disorganization up front for a senior-laden group. People who blame rust on this are making excuses. These basics in blocking should be natural at this point.
