Our tips to palliative care clinicians on SOT out in @PalliativeMed_j. Palliative care and transplant care are NOT contradictory. In fact, early palliative care may get our patients happier and healthier TO and THROUGH transplant. Time to test #palliativehepatology interventions.

“Humility is not to think less of yourself, but instead to think about yourself less.” Truer words could not be said about @DrKKAggarwal, a healer to all until the very end. Miss you mamaji, may your spirit be woven through all of us. youtu.be/KjEGMPxq4_4 via @YouTube

Learned today that a friend, Dr. K K Aggarwal, died from COVID-19 in New Delhi, 1 of > 1,000 physicians who have passed from the pandemic in India. My heart goes out to all of India in this moment, & especially the brave health care workers who “go to war” daily against COVID.

You will be dearly missed. I hope I can bring to my work and life even a fraction of the compassion, dedication, and intention you demonstrated every day. A tragic loss for our family and the millions you reached.

New Paper @JournalGIM: Seriously ill Asian Americans are not immune to health disparities. From 2000-2017, Asian Medicare decedents experienced sustained higher rates of invasive mechanical ventilation when hospitalized in the last 30 days of life. doi.org/10.1007/s11606…

Caregivers have been on my mind a lot recently. I see their fatigue. I see their distress being separated from loved ones. I see the disproportionate burdens they carry, some more than others. A beautiful ode to the true healthcare heroes out there. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

So fortunate to be sitting in @MGHPalCareGeri grand rounds listening to @Curseen on managing implicit bias. Full of pearls, perspective, passion. Inspired to keep diving deeper into bias management.

It was honor to moderate my colleagues in a panel discussing our experiences providing palliative care during our COVID-19 surge. A collective effort representative of many others not included on this panel, under the strong leadership of @JdeLimaThomasMD and @jatulsky.
