The tool ranks 36 countries using 42 AI-specific indicators. It is among the most comprehensive indices of its kind. Our key finding: the U.S. currently leads in AI, followed by China in a distant second and the United Kingdom in third.

The AI Index is launching a new project, AI Judicata, led by Elif Kiesow Cortez and Nestor Maslej. AI Judicata will provide the community with an easy-to-use, curated open-access database on relevant AI legal cases in the United States.

Happy to have contributed to a critical new project on transparency in the foundation model ecosystem. The Foundation Model Transparency Index from @StanfordCRFM & @StanfordHAI scores 10 companies on 100 measures of transparency. Our key finding: transparency is still lacking.
