if you believe your partner will become unlovable or not worthy of respect once they show certain parts of themselves, then it’s not love. you can’t truly love someone you refuse to understand/see because of inhuman ideas of manhood or womanhood.
women & men that think it’s bad for a woman to be a safe place for your partner hold the internalized idea that only women are “emotional”, and that a man expressing a “woman trait” is something shameful.
believing that women should shame their partners for opening up to them rather than meeting their basic emotional needs such as validating & listening to those emotions only reinforces toxic social conditioning that is inhumane and goes against true love. the fact that such behavior exists is a social condition born from both women and men who deny their human traits in order to fulfill a standard of relationships created by society rather than a biological reality or absolute fact.
